Lightning to the south east of here.  Looks like another cell to the south west as well but no lightning.

Edit: As I type lightning detected from the other cell.

Just heard a rumble out of one of those here in Harestock :-)

ECM, MetO and GFS to an extent, all showing potential for a true 'Spanish Plume' towards the end of next week. Now we need these charts to come into the more reliable timeframe!

I see the first strikes have appeared from the rapid formation of showers off the Kent coast - May head down to the coast if they pep up a little :)

Proper little storm kicking off here now. Coming in from the west. 4 rumbles, flashes and rain in the past 3/4 mins.

Allseasons-si mentioned that is was a wall cloud. It had plenty of motion to it (right to left in the pic), compared with the relatively slow moving storm. Also found a nice screen grab from a video taken earlier.

That's a shelf cloud,

It's clouded over roughly as the sun went down. Don't quite know whats going on with those cells, but so far they will miss me here.

I'm still out and about, not far from Swindon now. I'm thinking there is not much point going home. May get a room for the night so I am well placed for anything that may happen tomorrow

Would've chased, but got a lot of work on at the moment!

Also what's the betting that when I'm in Spain, the MCS of the century we've all been waiting for will happen LOL.

It is actually heading gradually in the direction of Swindon. I am keeping a watch on it and if it shows any signs of intensification I'll get on it.

Yes,looks sporadic with the sferics at present, hope it picks up for you,btw what about kipping in the car,it would be cheaper and i have done it loads of times,it's not that bad+ you will hear thunder and rain if you are a sleep.

as i type, that s'ton cell is firing up now, could be a late night/early morning for you,i would get some sleep now:)

edit: it's gathering intensity now too.

Haven't announced this anywhere yet, but thought I'd drop in and everyone know the good news!

Firstly - our free radar is now running at 500m resolution (a true 500m using data at that resolution, not interpolated from something else), and updates every 5 minutes:
http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=radar;sess=

Also, for our Extra subscribers the new V7 radar is online, which again uses 500m data, and has a brand new processing engine for speedy updates.
http://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/premium.pl?action=radarv7;sess=

On top of this, we've made changes to our subscriptions today with radar subscribers getting a free (and ongoing) upgrade to what was the lite subscription (in addition to all the extra radar features, you now get access to key Netwx charts, standalone lightning detection, the lightning archive, detailed forecasts etc).
https://www.netweather.tv/secure/cgi-bin/login.pl?error=session_timeout;c=14

For those with a Lite sub already, we've been in touch direct with email, but in case you didn't see it yet, your subs have been extended, so you don't lose out due to these changes.

:D

As we're not going to 'officially' announce all this until tomorrow, I thought I'd re-copy it in here for those watching the storms tonight!
