Hmm, just like everyone else thinks I've done that! But, funnily enough I haven't!:yahoo:

See there are strikes just East of Taunton, I guess in a NE'ly they will drift your way although not exactly sure where Newton Poppleford is mind despite the name but if they hold together you should like you say see something when you come out of Exeter.

Swansea northwards seems to have done well today as well. Is there something inhibiting storm development further East towards W Country/Dorset/Hampshire etc? Quite cloudy, a strong breeze here at the moment and does not feel humid at all.

I wasn't expecting anything earlier in the week, finished work at 4 and within 45 minutes had the Kettering Blitz going off in front of me.

Two loud rumbles of thunder and a bit of rain, enough to wet the ground but not much more, here. Seems to be it for the moment, as some light rain continues...

Must of been a positive strike here in Chard. Extremely loud shotgun thunder that lasted about 4/5 seconds.

Yes some strikes close by.

well to me it looks like it has panned out mostly as forecast , not everywhere was expected to get storms anyway but the areas with the emphasis have got what was forecast maybe not in the locale or numbers that some were hoping for but to coin a phrase that's the way the cookie crumbles

Going dark here and towers appearing in the haze... Looks like the breeding ground is shifting slowly eastwards.

Could it be that Godalming gets a thunderstorm at last?

Although as soon as it got going it has magically stopped! Rain is tropical here but thunder has ceased. Weird! It's like it's used up all the energy and decided to give up!

Yes forecast areas for the focus of the showers pretty much spot on in my opinion. Though I was expecting more to develop further East along the South Coast, and maybe further into W Country - they still might, but certainly less showers than I expected anyway

Nice storm going on over Barnstaple area too it seems.

Just driven through and been under a great storm near Ilminster which I chased towards Chard. Some bright lightning, torrential rain, hail and gusty winds. The thunder was very loud too, ground shaking.

Worth the effort despite the storm dying quite quickly.

More thunder rumbling to my west now :-)

More thunder now audible from the East? I think. Certainly a nice afternoon! Really enjoyed the thunder. Some of the loudest I have ever heard.
