Nowt here...as per :nonono:

Hi CC

Nothing here either in Limousin, France, but I'm not complaining after a gloriously warm day which is still 20c! Happy with that...

Well it right kicked off over shrewsbury. Constant thunder rumbling (can't remember that for a long time) lasted 20 minutes. Strikes within a mile. Saw some CC and Cg lightening. Lots of Sky flashing, quite intense at times, Looks to be getting stronger as it goes North. Still loud thunder. It was easier to see the lightening on the back side. North and west of here, if it keeps going you should be in for treat.

Today has brought our 4th thunderstorm of the year so far. Not bad for only the first week of May. So yes, it may turn cool again next weekend but with a meridional jet, should it continue like this, then it will not be long till the next southerly. Thankfully this region almost always does very well when winds come from the S/SE. :)

Just had a brief moderate rain shower here! Where the heck did that come from?

Well that was a good time for my wife to call me to ask me to pick her up from the Priestfield tram stop! Still quite dark to my east.

Yeah hopefully we shall get something tonight. Do we know if these are surface or elevated showers/storms?

Perhaps storms just beginning to quieten down a touch now with a few cells decaying now. Still some strong storms esp nr Shewsbury. South coast to watch out for some storms out of N France. I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if these are surfaced based thus they could struggle over the channel - many cells leaving the Cherbourg peninsula seem to die off when reaching the Channel. Most model output does not offer much interest overnight to be honest. Tomorrow looking dry for most. Conditions are there for a potentially intense storm but they will be very isolated if they occur. Looks very warm and sunny for many.

For those who either haven't had a storm, or maybe want to see even more action today, the USA storm chase has started today, and the team are chasing a slight risk in Colorado.

Have had a storm here. Was walking home from Aldridge to Walsall Wood and it was overcast and humid with a few distant rumbles to start with. By the time I got near home it kicked off with a few flashes and bangs, the wind picked up and it started raining very intensely with a bit of hail mixed in which caused reduced visibility. I had the soaking of my life.

@Mapantz, I think you're going to win this, unless the thunderstorms over the Cherbourg Peninsula are surface based, then I think you and Dorset are going to fair well tonight, I feel like I'm too far west but who knows.

If they're surface based, then they'll die over the channel. They need to be elevated in order to sustain a source of mid level fuel.

Yes, it looks like they are currently as most if not all of the lightning activity is dying away shortly after the coast. I think anything that forms now, especially over the English Channel, will be elevated.
