I've found the reason why this summer is so vile. Sorry everyone:(

Even in my deepest, darkest nightmares I couldn't have predicted how disgusting it would turn out to be and I'm really struggling now.

I've not suffered with SAD during the summer months before but here we are, this winter is truly going to be a struggle of epic proportions.

I'm officially going on record and saying that this summer is the worst I can ever recall in my lifetime.

While this summer is really struggling to arrive and at present I would call it poor but there is a way to go.Do you have a short memory or were you out of the country in the real shocking summers of 2008 and 2012 !

Sorry, surely it depends on how the individual see's and view's the summer so far, agree 2008 12 where not good but for many i'm sure this is worse, depends on your perspective and that is personal.

Appreciate that mate:)

i appreciate we are all different and some people prefer cooler/fresher conditions as opposed to heat, but i think we can all agree, just a little bit of sunshine would be nice. It's been so relentlessly grey this summer:(

I don't like the cold particularly, but i can completely appreciate how frustrated cold-lovers must get during our absolutely vile winter months.

Very well put, each to their own and if it effects your well being then the banter should stop. Fingers crossed the little glimmer becomes brighter soon!! I'll just have to retreat further in my cave to avoid it but so what!!

Thinking of good summer months... I recall  a couple of good Junes   2010 and 2011. If  i recall correctly that is..Poor summers  after that.. But they were not bad... I know April is obviously Spring.. But i  remember a April a few years back that was  very warm.. Maybe it was 2012 the garbage summer..Years seem to fly by.. Must be getting old :nonono:

last july saw a brief rather intense plume about this time, and gave some good storms,.....  I know this has been posted before , but always worth another look,  the supercell like storm, that was tormenting the warrington , wigan and manchester area underneath it :D then it later decided to scare the hell out of west yorkshire too  , here it is viewed from  a distance in derbyshire , a bit dark at first but it gets better after a minute or so

We often do get one summer month maybe August will deliver this year. there is plenty of heat over Spain. Lets hope it comes our way and sticks around a while.. I wouldnt bank on it though:pardon:.

There is always heat in Spain, but it's only average there at present, and much the same for the rest of the world.

The last time August had above average temperatures was in 2013, but that's because there was 1 hot day on the 1st (34.1c), with the rest of the month producing very average temps between 19-28c.  The last time August managed to record average or above average sunshine was in 2005 (accompanies with average temps).  The last time August managed to be sunnier and warmer than average was 2003, though that month will only remain in the memory for the spell between 4th-11th; the rest of the month was very ordinary.

I viewed that same storm from wood head pass and i was gobsmacked at how much lightning there was from it,i drove up there on a last minute ditch to capture it but i was well p****d off when my cam died of death,i will never forgive myself after witnessing the most conductive storm that i have ever seen,

this summer is fading and i hope to see a late burner:)

It looks like we have traded in the cool easterlies for unsettled westerlies over here. There have been no days that I would call very warm, let alone hot, but Saturday might just scrape 25c here. So it's a below par summer so far here but not terribly bad though.

Hmm, a lot of model output looks to me like a continuation of the pish-poor conditions we have seen for weeks on end. Yes, there's going to be a warm up especially towards the S and E to average or slightly above average temperatures but looking at the fax charts alone shows either single or multiple fronts sat over us. Doubt there's going to be much sunshine in that mess, then next week looks grim if it's sun and warmth you're looking for. Time to book another trip to Spain :)

Think you mean 2009 and 2010. Both junes were great, 2009 being the thunderier one and 2010 very dry. Sadly 2011 was just a continuation of May, pretty unsettled.
