Thunderstorm now north of Bath! We have ignition everyone! :D

EDIT: Looks like the activity has died. Maybe this will be a day of popcorn thunderstorms?

Yes, developments near Bristol recently on radar. Latest obs have particularly slack and converging sfc winds in this region, utilising building CAPE.  Good start.  Plenty of hours to go for further activity.

Just want a opinion, how close do people think any developments will be to me as I can only ideally go inland about 20 miles if that if I'm quick later on or would I have to go all the way towards Exmoor?

hopefully so Hector, tom's reporting thunder not too far away from me, and three cells have popped up very quickly almost within spitting distance

Get to Sarn Park services on the M4, park up and have McDonalds.

Sorry, that's too far I'm sort of looking inside East Devon ideally? :yahoo:

As a storm chaser, sometimes you've got to go the distance for the best. August the 22nd last summer, aimed to go 30 miles down the road, ended all the way up in North Yorkshire!! 

I'd say aim for the M4 if I were you

Unfortunately I'm at school, and cannot get a decent view to my east of the storm. Structure doesn't look too promising from the back end though.

I can see some amazing clouds in the distance, biggest cauliflowers i have seen for a long time and very welcome. Sun out now too +)

Went out on a short storm chase to Chippenham when there was quite a bit of thunder and lightning coming out of that cell with hail thrown in as well back home now hopefully some more showers will develop further south this afternoon.

messy convection has moved away to the north east giving no more than a light shower here....clearer but still fairly messy skies to south/south west....my eyes will be in that direction to see if anything brews later on....hi-res NMM is modelling more pronounced lower level wind convergence later on this afternoon along the M4 corridor...hope it verifies

Some really big convective clouds to the northwest of London, looks properly stormy! Warm and fair weather clouds here.
