Blue skies all day here and was noticeably warmer than yesterday, still very warm now and looks a very muggy and uncomfortable night ahead.

In these setups warm air always pools in the Cheshire Gap area overnight, still 20.2c here and many other local stations, in comparison to 10c in Norwich.

Beautiful yesterday, really warm and muggy night. Where's this cloud come from? Hope it does one soon, unless it's going to bring thunder of course.

Realised the last couple of days that I'm now very unused to 25C temperatures. A month or two of them should get me re-acclimatised....

Hello,

Can anyone explain high pressure thunderstorms, please?

Most storms occur in times of low pressure where rising air currents add fuel to any rising thermals. Today we have high pressure, where air currents are descending, which tend to kill-off rising thermals. From the radar charts there is quite a display of lightning in many parts of the UK. This is not a joke question as I really cannot get my head around this one.

Our weather in Coventry is dull, after a fairly bright morning. Outside shade temp is 24c

Looks like a nothing day for us. The high cloud has cut off the sunshine & the showers forming behind the front are just showers, I see a few strikes around The Marches, so maybe isoated stuff. Just wait until it gets over to the East of us, say Lincolnshire!

Things are on the move towards this part of the world now as the showers/storms along the trough are almost here. Would like to see some more development though!

Next few hours could be our time.

From a selfish point of view, could really do with it all quiet by around 8:30-9pm as I'm on earlys tomorrow! So lets get them in now please while I can enjoy them!

Raining now and very muggy, not heard any thunder though (have been inside all afternoon though). A couple strikes showing in S Shropshire but really feels like it ought to be doing it more widely...

Not heard any thunder and that shower that was over Shrewsbury is dying a death. Looks like us in Shropshire are going to miss out on the fun and games. Looks like anywhere east of here is the sweet spot.

The only reason we have more thunderstorms today is before there is a trough, a line of instability gradually crossing the country, other areas is due to the hills and mountains, where the air gets forced up and forms cumulonimbus clouds.

Considering we`re in HP its been a very active day for hearing thunder for 3 hours, missed the rain here.

You wouldn`t hear most of the thunder in the house.

Now sunny and cleared up,except for developing TCU to CB`s to the NE.
