Well the shower that passed at 3.30pm gave Snow with the sun out beforehand.

The shower overhead right now without the sun is giving Rain...

Work that one out ?!?!?!

Was the first one heavier may be cooling affect. So annoying isn't it. That batch around oxford seems to be producing snow that wasn't forecasted so I hold out some hope but not a lot.

The ppn is pivoting over Oxfordshire, building slightly as time goes on. Right now there will be some places getting quite a nice covering, especially in the Chilterns.

Meanwhile clear skies here, temps dropping, but DP's rising, slowly... Could be interesting later on.

Yeah I am kind of envious of those in Oxfordshire under that near stationary area of snow.

I can't see any settling snow on any of the traffic cameras around Oxford, or anywhere in our region right now:

Ah that sucks, hopefully the conditions will improve as it looks like the precipitation will hang around for a while longer.

Anyways back here partly cloudy skies though interestingly the forecast now suggests transient snow tomorrow morning though over higher ground so I am screwed being in the flattest place in the entire universe :p

Metoffice updated warning . Nothing special but highlights the uncertainty

Rain or sleet is likely to fall onto frozen ground to bring a risk of ice on untreated surfaces on Saturday morning. In addition, some transient snow is possible, mainly above 200 metres where 1 cm may settle for a time very locally. This is an update to the warning since some wet snow has already fallen across parts of the Midlands and may lead to icy surfaces on Friday evening - hence this area is now included and the start time has been brought forward. Please be aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions and slippery surfaces.

Clear skies on Friday evening will allow temperatures to fall widely below freezing. Later in the night a frontal band will move in from the northwest bringing a mixture of rain, sleet, and perhaps some transient snow - the snow mostly on high ground, with a centimetre perhaps settling on the Cotswolds and Chilterns for a time - also across parts of the Midlands on Friday evening. However, the main hazard is likely to be ice formation where rain or sleet falls onto sub-zero surfaces, or washes off earlier road treatment. The risk of ice will occur earliest across the northwest of the yellow area before reducing by dawn - by this time the risk will transfer further southeast, although there is some uncertainty as to how quickly this will occur and it is possible that precipitation may not reach the far southeast of England until mid morning when the road temperatures will have risen above freezing.

Tell me about it I do not have much. :diablo:

These showers moving up from Sussex coast are pivoting towards London area in synergy with that band of precipitation to West Country.

What is being seen on the ground folks?

Drizzling here currently. Sleet and hail in heavier burst not long ago.

Was like that scraping the car this morning before work and was sunny. About midnight when was a bit warm you guessed it was rain.  Funny how when it cold enough we got no precipitation lol.

We already have an air frost here. A very cold night to come. Hopefully we can get a little snow tomorrow.

Well below freezing in Canterbury at the moment , my weather stations is actually warning of snow,,, radar shows the weather system trying to pivot but the showers seem to evaporate just after leaving the channel and meeting the really cold air. Beeb presenter warned sleety rain and mentioned a possible light covering on top of ice by the morning which won't be fun, take care on the roads and pavements when you get up.
