For reference^

Stroud is pretty much right in the middle of the white!

Come on winter 15/16 you can deliver at least one snowfall!!!!

I got a funny feeling about this storm, when it first showed in the models, I was keeping half an eye on potential snowfall! And seeing Ians tweet earlier certainly backs up the "potential"

Its the ppn rates that will be crucial, and everything is pointing to some very lively echoes appearing on the Radar in our region.

Being in the Cotswolds Im going to be waking up that bit early to see what's falling from the sky, I have cancelled work tomorrow and laid off the lads for the day (building a house with no roof yet so rain or snow we cant really work) so am looking forward to seeing what the early morning could possibly bring.

Im at about 100 meters up, but just one minute drive and I'm at around 250 meters, Will be interesting to see what unfolds.

Im hoping that if the heavy ppn gets going and it turns to snow appreciable accumulations might be possible.

Just as your done chasing snow this interesting situation turns up... lets hope met office have it underplayed and it is a half decent event before it melts into the afternoon?

Seems the system is coming in a little quicker too over last few runs with chance of snow from 3am rather than 6am which it was a few days ago but that helps if anything.

Although it doesnt help my sleep.  alarm set for 3am :fool:

Close, Just by the Playhouse.

Whereabouts are you based?

Half way up Rodborough hill, above B&Q.

Though I used to live on Summer Street and it was always the best street in Stroud for the cold, apart from being up on the commons etc.

Its north facing and tends to catch all the cold filtering down from Bisley falling into the valley, I can remember lots of occasions when Summer street was snow covered while Stroud centre had nothing!.

But the name is Ironic ha.

Looking around at the current temperatures, they are still relatively high, and after an afternoon of rain, and still raining, it's keeping the temperatures very mild. Way too warm on the southern edges for anything but rain, with present temps between 8 & 10C, it has to drop a long way.

As the low moves through, cold air wraps around the Northern and Western flank of it, lowering the vitals..

probably not as it currently stands, not enough elevation and probably a tad too far west....

.....over here in north east wilts, I'm hopeful..........I think

It did show wells in the white graphics but I would think it is too low down and warm being south west flank of hills.

Also temperature will fall with heavy ppn rates due to evaporative cooling I would think.

agreed Mully..................the GFS and NMM suites don't make much of the snow threat, mainly heavy rain with some sleet in places, but Ian F's recent post in the mod thread does give an increased risk of some snow, if I've read it right  :)

I'm seeing 8c, (chiv) and a 5c over Exmoor, with the heavy band now just out west

The wind needs to switch to the north, and those temps really need to drop

This one could be a knife-edge situation for some

No use looking until after mid night. Winds veer northerly in early hours.

so normal service about to resume with the incoming rain. Really can't see anything exciting falling here tonight. Wells is always tropical compared to everywhere else around here.

I I think im just depressed with this winter now... Where is the fast forward button

7.3C at present. I will eat my hat if it manages to drop 6-7 degrees before morning.
