Current Cold Spell: snow where, snow when - how much?

Recommended Posts

Hardly any wind to speak of so should any snow set in could hang around for several hours. Amazing how forecasts changed literally within a day or so from mainly bright cold and frosty to wet and potentially snowy. Good news remains as any moderate to heavier falls will be decent enough for building the odd snowman as opposed to the more powdery variety expected later this season.  And when more frigid temperatures move in from the east.

Well' going by met guidance im certainly in a good location for falling snow tonight into tomorrow! .

Being to the west of London (middlesex).

However its a classic' case of eastwards/westwards correct when such north-to- south frontal approach.

As seen many occasions with part pivotal alignment. ..there could be some whom atm think there off the scale but would advice radar watch! id atm hedge bets on more eastwards correction !!!!! @nowcast

At least 10cm here and still snowing, although the radar shows the snow almost away from here :(

Don't be surprised to see after initial sign of 'decay' .to see this front pep-and expand somewhat as it begins inroads southwards and encroaches wider land mass!!.

The already purposed eastwards shunt is now on also....

Yes it seems much further East than forecast on the radar we may just get our first snow here in Darlo although it normally goes to the North or South of us!!

Black line = Precip but increased risk of marginality the further SW you go

Green line = Prime spot methinks live along that you should get precip and remain cold enough.

Red line = Cold but a lack of precip possible.

Just my take on it really the push east has lessened the favours of those nears oxford but increased the chances of those further NE. London looks like a good spot likely to be lighters as it travels further SE so much of Kent could only get the scraps.

How about Milton Keynes good spot??

Currently I would say yes. Best to check the BBC forecasts and such.

That you didn't notice a thread :-D

Agree that you couldn't call it a cold spell really, just average. I guess it feels like a cold spell after the mild mush.

Quite surprised I actually got some snow today, was expecting rain! Heaviest fall from 6pm with a cm or two on some surfaces. Winter 2015/16 not a total loss...  :D
