Thick heavy snow falling here over an inch settled and still falling heavily. Cars stuck on the roads etc really is a nice surprise considering up to half an hour ago there was no warnings

We can see from these latest charts the location of the boundary between the 2 airmasses over the far north of England as that low moves towards the NE coast.

quite a remarkable difference with surface readings of 10-12C widely in the south and around freezing in the snow.Scotland in the cold throughout the next 24hrs with colder uppers returning as far south as the midlands overnight.

It may be zonal but it ain't mild everywhere.

5-6 inch covering now here after heavy snow from 11-4. Met forecast was 4 with heavy rain but in reality was -1 and heavy snow!

5th consecutive morning with snow lying in my home town of Aberfeldy [100mtrs asl] in Highland Perthshire. Around 6 cms left though melting now despite the air temp being 0.1C and the dewpoint being under zero.

Although I wasn't actually awake to witness it falling there was a surprise covering of wet snow at my house this morning. Nothing spectacular but adds to the count nonetheless.
