-6C this morning which is on the cold side for the beach (lowest temp since the winter before last); an hour later it was only -2C at Drumnadrochit so make of that what you want.

We went for a scenic hill walk in the snow from near there and I'll try to post some pics before I fall asleep this evening.

Frigid again at home this evening.

Are we due another few cold days before a slow thaw, or am I reading the charts wrong again?

Nearly covered the laptop with tea when I saw Blitzen's pic of SWS from earlier...

DO NOT TRY STEEP UNTREATED ICY ROADS WITH SUMMER TYRES - I nearly had another 'incident' this afternoon.

Anyone heard of a 'snow shaft'? In the local papers yesterday seen offshore Aberdeen yesterday morning apparently.

:cc_confused:

Perhaps worth posting elsewhere on here RT; status update or one of the main winter threads.

Oooh, light snow in Stirling, Currie and Head of Muir! Rushes to window in excited anticipation. Oh bum, nothing here in the middle (otherwise known as Falkirk).

Light flurry here too snowidea!  We're not far from Falkirk and it's moving north east so you might get some dandruff shortly. ..

Seriously, but WTF?

Have we got some sort of new type of snaw that's invisible to radar in Scotland? I was puzzled yesterday with people saying 'peltin doon here!' but the radar showed naff all, but now folks are on reporting the same thing?

I blame the SNP.

It's always the other way round here - the radar shows socialist ppn and we have jack 541t.  Bloody tories.

The beer garden in Bar Brel on Ashton Lane in Glasgow was looking very nice in the snow. Took this last night.

Some light snow for me over the last hour that's passed through without really amounting to anything other than being good to see. I'm hoping that temperature either remains the same or ideally drops a little bit in advance of the heavier stuff.

Currently 1.3c/-0.1c.

Light snow here too now. Very light, but still snow. Oh, and 0 degrees according to car.

Snow has turned to rain in Kilmarnock. Temperature was 3C earlier. Temperature is now 2C. Milder air incoming? Or is it to get colder again? I can't follow the model thread sometimes.

Light snow here again. Heavier than the last shower and settling. Can't imagine it'll last long though as radar shows absolutely nothing LOL

Hi everyone thought I'd drop in given the recent snow! Happy New Year too!

Is it just me or does anyone else think there is some real potential with the front moving in from the west given the considerably colder air that it is to hit in the new few hours?

Falling as rain in Northern Ireland but their air is much milder. It will very interesting to say the least and my journey to work in Stirling in the morning could be very interesting!

Stay safe on the roads everyone and to those who stay up lamppost watching, enjoy hopefully!

Not too happy to see this green blob on the radar. An hour ago most of the ppn showing in Central and Southern Scotland was pink! I wonder what that means for later and that approaching band?

I think it will be snow, rain then back to snow in the morning. The front is bringing mild air but it's a scorpians tail. Whipping round and then being pushed back.
