The precipitation is further east than the 9pm chart though already, so the snow line will be further east also. It's closing in on Lincolnshire and east Yorks now which is incredible given the earlier forecasts.

It does seem that the less cold air and dew points have surged further east than Birmingham now. Squeaky bum time for Leicestershire, Notts should be Ok though.

The only time Coventry gets snow is when it's not for cast.  living in the Warwickshire plane must be the worst place in the country for snow. Even in 2010 it didn't snow here!!@

Sod's law that all the precipitation will probably start moving south over Brum now we're in the less cold air!

Warwickshire is a pretty bad place for snow, even worse than my area. Neither are good though, but at least we get nicer summers than Yorkshire.

Cannock wasn't too bad, I was at 180m ASL, so did pretty well in marginal events, here it just seems to rain.

What temp do u need for snow to fall I thort it was -4 and lower

Hi Matty,

There is no short answer. There are a number of things to look out for.Obviously the first thing is precipitation and then other things.

Here's a link to John H's guide on what to check for

Have a read it covers all the bases.:)

The only good point is that I am not missing out by a few miles. Turning into a big margin. But this milder air will ruin next weeks chances now so a double blow overall. Shambolic attempt at winter. Can't wait for Scandinavia in a few weeks but for the uk, summer can't come quick enough.

I tend to do well here. But even my elevation can't save me from the mild sectors that have plagued the West Midlands in winters since 2013.

Just a horrible drizzly night out there now. Annoyed that my favourite dog walks are going to be swamps again.

It seems like a lost cause now for the West Midlands with just a sleet fest. On a more positive note at least Villa got a draw .:yahoo:

No doubt my interest in the weather has plummeted recently. As I've got older, I've enjoyed summer more and more. Can't beat a warm summers day and BBQ. No matter what the British weather, always more doable and easier to please than winter. Plus thunderstorms are easier to achieve here too. Since 2007/8 we've always had 1 or 2 big storms a year here amongst the usual smaller ones.

Sleeting here but the met have just changed their forecast to heavy snow at 9pm, I'll believe it when I see it! (Up the villa by the way)

Raining lightly here in Knowle. Temp is currently 1.9°C with a dp of 0.8°C

The ppn does seem to have intensified somewhat up North, fingers crossed the East Midlands will be the main beneficiaries of that later tonight :)

A link to the current MO warning for W.Midlands issued at 18.53

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&regionName=wm&fcTime=1452902400

1-3cm for low ground,5-10c above approx 200mtrs in a fairly narrow band across the central area seems the gist of it.

Based on that maybe best to keep expectations low.
