Nothing here in Harefield! Not even rain at the moment!

I think we're going to avoid it all to be honest so everybody north of me, enjoy!

Just had to go back to work in Watford to check the alarms, and it was as if it was almost night time the cloud cover was so thick... it's also very humid but nothing of any interest going on

Never mind, there'll be other times!

This one may well be worth a shifty in half an hour or so.

Prefer this one of Amsterdam:

Nice little storm has broken out near to Ely, connected to the same line as the storm near Luton/Hertford.

That's what got me out of the house at midnight in July, and look what happened - I was out for 5 hours :D :D

Very bad day - worse than usual. No sunshine whatsoever and drizzle at most. Would have been much better with a storm, but everything storm-wise seems to have died out, so no storms for me!

Have tried resisting looking at the latest posts in here in fear of spoiling what the thundery chances could be like for the West Midlands (lol). To be honest, don't expect the Solihull Storm Shield to cave in tonight. Nor tomorrow. But going to get some shut eyes and hope to wake up to a bang!

Good luck all and well done to those of you getting your storms so far. Enjoy it! :good:

Quick question. The cold front isn't going anywhere (if anything, set to head east), the showers are moving in a NW direction. Isnt there some sort of convergence inevitable because of this?

Tomorrow..

Storms? dunno

No storms? Dunno

Cloud? Yea

Rain? Yea

Wild guess?

Stalled front out West pushes back East, the eastern side of the country actually want no storms tonight or rain really to build some heat in, as front pushes back East, some sparks should happen.

Ahahhahahahaha who am I trying to kid... Then again

That shower NE of Dieppe in N France has gone from nothing to producing a lot of lightning within 20 mins.

The storm in the Netherlands has almost become stationery too!

Thundery activity today has been slightly towards the east of forecast zone by Metoffice - though Nick F was pretty spot on. If you were chasing in the USA then finding the storms would have been within the parameters set and would be chaseable. It's a pity that the best storms and lightning were wasted over the Channel, but such is life. Forecasting is all about the risk in these scenarios and if that is there then the warnings have to be made and that is what has occurred. There is still a zone to the east of the cold front where potential still exists and will do until the front pushes through.
