CRAZY. Best storm in YEARS, infact its still going. Some really intense CG's of the + type I think mixed in with a lot of clound and smaller strikes. Its been so long I forgot how bright lightning is and its vivid colour. My eyes hurt. Quite strange. What a system, and about damn time too.

Insanely close lightning here, Royal Mail Home Counties north got struck by lightning!

 

Indeed... These storms got very intense very quickly round these parts!

Lol watching from home now, got out 10 miles onto the end of the mainland, beautiful rocks in the foreground with tide out, and forgot my remote release. At least I now know that location if nothing else, having a beer and watching this roll in

The cold front is still down in the south! It won't be here for another couple of hours yet!

 

And where is our potential coming from.....there's nowt downwind for miles and miles, the nearest storms will go east of here. Birmingham is about to get pummelled then up into NE Midlands.

Activity to the east has increased signficantly in the last five minutes. Still in the garden with a beer. Feeling quite lucky. Being in the clear patch between the western and eastern sets of storms, I'm in prime observational position. Could do with being a few miles closer mind...

my son's out chasing the wilts monster.....he's currently in Winchester heading up the A34, I've told him to 1) be bloody careful!...2) go up the A346 I'll meat him nr Swindon....We've one cell overhead here now kicking out some lovely forks, but looking south towards Salisbury, it's a flash a second...incredible stuff, and it's getting closer by the minute!
