sat on the side of the road in my fold up chair about 10 miles from home. Im sure people wonder what the hell im doing. some quite beefy accas turrets going up here. Wind is se and feels a bit cool, so will be suprised if anything roots below 700mb here, but on the the other hand some nice inflow if so. 5 miles east of Swindon now (thats close enough!). good luck all :)

Go home! Nothing is going to happen for hours yet ! Have to laugh at some of the "cell firing up now....." Been reading that on here since about 4pm. There are no "cells" yet only a few tiny showers. Will be 10pm + before any cells even start to appear on uk soil

Wondering whether to hang on here in Sheffield or head ESE to Lincs. Still got a few hours to decide, mind you!

Another one of those "line" things in the clouds again - looking out to my West. (Apologies for the lack of correct terminology) :/

Wouldn't have thought it'll be long before you see something in your neck of the woods. There's an area of showers to the south of Plymouth that will probably expand north and eastwards over the next few hours. Anyhow, hope you get a great storm! Very humid here too..

Thanks I hope so...looks like they'll get more intense as they head up north as per usual, I'll report anything that happens.

All more windows are open and fan is on, the sky looks very thundery, you can feel it in the air, fingers crossed

Cell towards Cardiff I assume.. Maybe over Caerphilly so that may not even be the cell!

Humidity keeps rising

Its core is producing 25-30mm p/h rainfall rates at the moment. This shows destabilisation is starting to occur as the cells didn't track up from France- they're developing as we speak.

Well the strikes in the Atlantic suggest there is enough energy far enough west at the moment surely.

Let's hope precip breaks out more widely and further east in the next few hours as the models suggest.

The showers over Wales and over the SW, can be classified as cells....

Yes OK, although technically incorrect it's common for the term 'cell' to be used to describe the radar echo returned by an individual shower or thunderstorm

Actual definition for those interested:

"Cell": Convection in the form of a single updraftdowndraft, or updraft/downdraft couplet, typically seen as a vertical dome or tower as in a cumulus or towering cumulus cloud
