Is anyone actually hearing any impressive thunder tonight or is it all lightning? Reason I ask is we've had near constant lightning here in Ealing for close to 2 hours yet I haven't heard a single loud rumble all night..

 
Even in a boring pulse storm I'd expect to hear louder that what I've been hearing tonight...

I keep hearing distant thunder but I can't figure out if a storm is actually heading this way?

True, good for watching with a big horizon from the seafront.. I used to go to UEA in Norwich, remember a few good storms from my time there!

And yeah had some really loud thunder here, only a handful of times considering the constant flash.

Some really loud thunder, still going now. almost a constant rumble. Also not seen rain like this for years!

I have heard some serious thunder tonight. Cracking, popping and banging not just rumbles.

Off topic: doggy coping quite well with primula squeezy cheese.

Seem to be missing the main activity, getting some strange spectacles with  lightning pushing across areas of clear sky overhead, quite surreal.

Heading to bed now, more out of necessity rather than anything else.

I fully take back my last post! Massive crashes of thunder now in Ealing with almost constant thunder and lightning!!

Another line of storms over North Kent & Went london ( Currently overhead in greenhithe)

 

Another cell popping over the South kent region ( Tonbridge ) heading NNW

Safe to say it hasn't been a bust in our region for a change! Still frequent lightning here in London, going on two hours now

Here in Twickenham we've had intermittent thunder & lightning,  punctuated with intense bursts of rain and (hail) since around 11:30pm and looking at the real-time lightning page suggests there are plenty more storms brewing to the south

Temperature and humidity really rising noticeable outside now.

 

I'm still well north of all of the storms, but the sky is flashing like a dodgy fluorescent bulb and I can hear rumbles in the distance.

Heaviest downpour all night just started out of the blue just as things seemed to be calming down here in Ealing, stay up for another while yet  :D
