Pictures to follow from the better photgraphers than me

Started the day in Fort Stockton after the dud on an MCS That was supposed to be sent our way from Mexico.

I actually targeted a triangle from Childress to Guthrie to Vernon for today and was surprised when the SPC Gave little to no support to what I thought was the best area. Loved the mid 60's dewpoints riding up and over the Caprock and with a dryline helping to kick off convection and the latter runs of the HRRR Backing up my thoughts we set off at 11am with a lunch target of Big Spring and a later target of somewhere in the Southern Texas Panhandle. Along I-20 We went to have a look at a few English type non severe thunderstorms and around 5pm one of these started to go Supercellular. Shortly afterwards a Tornado warning was issued for our cell and how it never produced is beyond me. Rotating funnel clouds a plenty tried to get it done and the storm still had decent inflow. Some of the Cg lightning out of the bears cage area was downright dangerous with numerous strikes hitting within a few hundred metres of our location. Around 645pm the now HP Supercell went Outflow dominant and the end was nigh. A great chase though and ended the day in Coleman.

Oh and Guthrie produced a stout cone tornado btw, seems to be the way of it this season.

All guests happy with their day and some pictures will now be posted up.

Hey everyone,

Absolutely loved yesterday. My first ever daylight full sized supercell. It was fantastic and I want to do it again haha!

  • Never seen lightning drop like that before until yesterday.
  • Never seen clouds twist and rotate like that until yesterday.
  • Never seen it rain so hard like it did yesterday.
  • Never seen clouds go such a turquoise colour as they did yesterday.

A lot of firsts, and all set and ready to go for it all again! Enjoy the photos below1

Cheers,

Mike.
