Just now, snow*please said:

Okidoki thank you. Don't have faith in anything anymore lol.

The weather will do what it wants anyways haha

Oh yeah not much point looking at forecasts in times like this

All about watching the radar and more importantly the lamp post when snow is involved haha

Ahhh good old lamp post watching...when snow lovers everywhere look like insane curtain twitchers through the night! Lol

It's mostly rain here atm with maybe the odd flake in it...I think

How are other areas rain totals from this event?
It's hardly been mentioned but really should have had a specific warning -  about to pass 30mm here and it probably won't stop until after midnight.
This is the wettest day since 15th September here.

We haven't had a particularly wet winter on the moors.
There was a great fuss in the media about Pickering's 'natural' flood defences being a great success (don't look at the £2m concrete bund, look at those old logs) - but December was only just above average unlike further west - and when the media rushed to look and praise it, there had only been about today's total over 48 hours.

Here's some 'nearbys'
Battersby (Stokesley) 32mm
Whitby (on the West Cliff) 10mm
Guisborough (nr Middlesbrough) 10mm
Pickering 22mm
There aren't many others nearby with working rain gauges just now.

Turned to sleet now, surprised really surely night time should have helped things. Dont know why it would be warming up. Models show colder uppers tomorrow than today so surely they are coming through overnight? The arrows on TV forecasts clearly showed a nice arctic northerly lol

Sadly the front returned as Rain here which quickly removed any snow. So if I slept 6 hrs yesterday during the day I would have missed it

Amazing that an inch of rain failed to produce a lasting covering here. Moors still covered. Sadly shower activity is pretty weak if they got beefy enough they may produce something.

Even up a red mires , on Hallam moors there is a good 7in covering. Under stanage edge yesterday afternoon there was 10 in of powder snow. A long hard walk back to Sheffield from Hathersage after we had to abandon the car because of accidents blocking all roads out.

That really would be a pleasant surprise and we have had nothing all winter and have missed out on every occasion so far.

Been snowing here now for past hour due to it. No massive strength to it, but its covering all the southern Pennines + parts of the Midlands.
