Bad news for those in South Yorkshire.. the shape of the band means that the narrow bit will pass to the north so expect precipitation to stop completely soon.

Its days like this that remind me what I'm missing since moving down into Huddersfield, been snowing reasonably heavily all morning, but just now turned to sleety rain, all there is to show for it is a cm or so on grass and cars, but just spoke to a friend who still lives up in Scapegoat Hill and they've got 8-10 cms and it's still coming down. Amazing what a difference 150m and an urban environment has.

It's drizzling.. blasphemy.

The radar suggests the weather gods will do us a favour anyway. Anywhere south of Leeds is probably going to see it stop in a few hours unless things change.

Heaviest snow so far will trip out in a bit. Should be quiet deep at Grave spark. The pivot point seems to be around us so could well snow for a while if the intensity keeps up.

Meto going for a lot of rain through the night, how nice would it be for those heavy rain symbols to dramatically change to heavy snow symbols instead hehe. Now I'm just getting greedy...but can hope lol

Coming a little sleety again now, if the intensity picks up it may turn back to snow.

i drove up the M1 out of Sheffield and now at Wolley Edge service near Wakefild. It was all snow in Sheffield and a good covering of about 5cms around  grenoside. However as soon as I hit the M1 near Barnsley it turned quickly to rain. It seems this warm sector heading south and turning things to rain.

Here are some more pics....

1st is along the A61 out of Sheff...nice trees!

2nd is approaching the tankers key roundabout on the A61 and the 3rd is Wolley services. Where it's raining heavily!

Just drizzle here now. Was fab to see it falling though and my 1 year old little girl got so giddy bless her, although they have cancelled her swimming lesson this afternoon can't really see why to be honest but oh well, cosy day in the house now.

Snowing again here atm, can't see it adding anything though.

Everything gone slushy now.

Won't be long until it is rain again it can't seem to make its mind up.

Not complaining (for once) haha. Got more than was expected this morning so I'm happy :)

Been snowing here since about 11am, nothing setting though

suppose we knew this would be a high ground event and it just shows how well the peak district can do when it comes to snow!

Looks like the front is about to leave South Yorkshire so game over until later for those in the south. Later on tonight as the low moves east we should see precipitation come back. I'm not in South Yorkshire but beyond a bit of drizzle it looks like i'll probably end up catching the gap for a while.

Where has all my snow gone

Good covering around 5-6cm at 8.30ish this morning

Been raining since about 11am and now nearly all gone

If some of the higher parts have had non stop snow must be 10"-12" possibly in the Peak District areas???

Sadly stopped and now dry with steady thaw of what little has fallen.  One pic from Graves Park the others my phone won't email for unknown reasons. Ahh it's now caught up.

A bit disappointed with today, BBC reported 11cm at LBA and while that is at the upper levels of what most places have seen parts of Buxton etc well over 300m have seen all snow.

Definitely an if only event.

Temperatures after rising to about 2.c are shooting back down again so we may well see the snowline dropping.
