what a stunning day weather wise today, unbroken sunshine, pleasent feel, certainly felt more like spring than winter, had a good few hours in the garden, daff bulbs comming up and the rubarb is well on it way, have not read anything on the model thread to say things are going to feel remotely wintry anytime soon.

Looking at the latest runs, its looking like Western North Yorkshire and the Western half of West Yorkshire, could get hit very bad over Christmas day evening / boxing day. Does seem the worst of the storm is moving south wards and now is looking to hit the Pennines from South East Cumbria down to around Halifax. Very very similar setup to the one last week which caused record river levels around these parts, and if anything could produce even higher levels. Going to be one to keep an eye on if you live anywhere near water / prone to flooding.

I think there could be a bookies' White Christmas in some higher parts of the region as the front becomes slow-moving against relatively cold air, though low-lying areas will probably just see rain and 3-4C.

Merry Christmas everyone :D

It looks as though we may finaly start to enter winter once January arrives! Heres hoping for a very cold and snowy spell, we certainly deserve it.

Not far off a repeat of last boxing day here, 4c and heavy rain, big shame its not that little bit colder, would have been a good snow event.

Doesn't look particularly wintry just a return close to normal values. Normal of course can mean snow  we may even get an air frost if we're lucky.

This evenings run doesn't really indicate normal values sadly more the mild wet stuff I'm afraid. I'm trying to think of an winter without any air frosts there's been some close calls in the past this winte rmay do it. Thank gawd I didn't bother with winter tires would have been a right waste of money.

The 12z ECM is indicative of something wintry but its going to be a struggle with the output been so messy with alot of shortwave drama.

Expect Severe flood warnings to be issued on the Aire soon. The streams running into it are flooding over a foot higher in places than previous record levels - and we still have 6 hours more rain to go. This is bad.

Large chunk of the center of Skipton is reportedly flooded, including some retail sites (Morrisons, B&M) and the medical center and various other places - got this first hand from a neighbour who works there and saw it with their own eyes. This is Very bad, but because its boxing day so people aren't aware.

Glusburn beck was recording earlier 1 and half feet above the record levels of 2 weeks ago. This article contains pictures from then when it almost flooded houses - guess they wouldn't have been as lucky this time.

Hebden Bridge and Todmordon are also flooding.

Here is a video from Hebden, and it would have got worse since then -

Met Office has now put Western West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire under a Red Weather Warning -

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1451088000&regionName=nw&fcTime=1451088000&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&regionName=yh

Runs until 10pm tonight.

Includes Bradford, Halifax, Keighley, Steeton & Silsden - probably half a million people+ in the affected area.

Just had the council round here delivering sandbags, we don't need them but our neighbours do although could have done with them 18 hours ago.

This is going to be a record setter for a lot of Yorkshire.

Same in Skipton. Skipton though is looking in severe danger as there is a very old housing estate of terraced houses that is below the canal's level, but the canal is overflowing due to the canal and river have joined upstream. Significant flooding in Haworth as well, including one pub has had its backwall ripped off it had that much water in.

Big issue is going to be Leeds, the water there is already at record levels and will keep rising for next 3-6 hours even if this rain stops now- which it wont.

I normally really enjoy boxing day, but nobody round here can celebrate at all.

Really bad news coming out of many places now. Flooding at any time is bad enough, but obviously now ruining peoples Christmas is just even worse :(

Thinking of you North and West Yorkshire firends, stay safe...
