The explanation mentions large to very large hail, damaging winds and even tornadoes. Also mentions bow echoes etc. Pretty amazing stuff if you ask me!! :yahoo:

Some BIG clouds rolling about right now but nothing will develop I dont think.

I've got to walk to work at 6pm tomorrow for a night shift. Worried I'm going to get attacked by hailstones.

We've just hit a 48hour peak in temperature at the summit of Meall a' Bhuiridh, it's 14c at 3600ft at the top of Glencoe Ski Area and its now 16c at Munro Level, warmer uppers seem to be spilling in, so if we get any sort of fohn effect off the Cairngorms tomorrow it could be pushing records around Inverness and the Great Glen.

[edit]

It's 17c at 2500ft on CairnGorm and 21.4c at Loch Morlich!

Checked Met Office weather for Ayr tonight and according to that it's to be dry there with some evening sunshine with no rain although.. Everybody else are expected to see heavy and Thundery showers.. I've see that happen many a summer while most of the Central Belt has seen Thunder the Ayrshire Coast has remained dry..

My weather station is claiming it's 21.3ºC but I suspect it's misreading due to the sun.

Currently 24c in the shade thermometer on a wall facing west . Thermometer facing east in full sun off the scale way over 40c. This is going to be a seriously hot day.

19.4C and rising on the thermometer at the moment. Edinburgh Airport is at 15C as of 0820 but there seems to be a slight onshore breeze their at the moment, Charterhall at 18C. Forecasted to reach 25C this afternoon here but I wouldnt be surprised to see slightly higher if the onshore breeze doesn't affect us and the cloud thins and breaks

Currently 21.5c. Absolutely stifling out there, the sun feels so hot. Should make 28 easy, maybe pushing 30 I would think with such a warm start.

Edit: found another station a bit closer. Still much closer to the coast and about 12 miles east so no use in winter but it's already reading 23.5c with a feel like of 25c. Seems on the high side to me but certainly shows just how warm a start it has been so far

Have you got cloud up there? I can't be that far from you in a straight line (I'm between Duns and Greenlaw, near Charterhall) and it's mostly sunny and feeling spanking hot when we were out walking the dog.

Edit: 22 miles :D

2nd Edit: Kinloss reporting 26ºC, before 10am. Waw!

it was cold in Edinburgh when I arrived due to the wind but warming up nicely now.

Good news for storm lovers. 2 storms already started in northern England which is a good sign!

Aye got about 4/8 of mid layer stuff, mostly Ac. The back up thermometer is reading 21.9C so seems a bit accurate than the other one, taking into account what other nearby stations are saying. Does look nice down your way :D

23.1c climbing....

Feeling nice with more of a breeze now :)

Why can't it be like this more often? Maybe today is going to be a little hot but 23-26c is beautiful in my opinion.

I need to win the lottery and then buy a mansion in L.A.

Sounds like a plan.

Very hazy here and temp nowhere near as high as elsewhere - yet. Looking forward to hopefully a storm or 2 later.
