Powercut here lasted about 10minutes, it was horrible without the fan on!

I still reckon a small, very small chance of 37*c being hit

What is it currently at Heathrow? theoretically this is not the warmest part of the day but near it, it remains stifling 35c plus not checked and I think one of my migraines are coming on. Oh the joy.

When all the data is collated it may as in 2003 we get a 'late' higher temperature that is deamed by the Met Office as official.

As things stand a July record breaker of 36.7c was recorded at Heathrow at 1450. 37.0 is not out of the question.

This cloud is over Brentwood ish.

I don't know if it is rising or dropping water as it looks too small for rain.

Edited, it's growing and just dropped a very light shower.

I'm sitting in the shade in the garden, don't know how accurate this is but

11695353_10153660083959505_4526954692448

Fairly accurate most in region have been subjected to Sauna like conditions today I have heard reports of people fainting in London Underground it does not surprise me in the slightest. I do not know what the maximum temperature in London in 2003 was but it must have been close to today but not quite.

It is a shame the cloud in the morning into early afternoon stalled/dipped the temperature imagine if such similar scenes to yesterday 100F would have been broken even the 2003 record would have been exceeded IMO.

Had a cloudy spell for around half an hour between 2 and 3, otherwise a lot of sunshine apart from a heavy shower early on. 34C reached at work in Chatteris, just 31C back home, there do seem to be a few showers kicking around but the rain seems to evaporate before it hits the surface.

Bit disappointing here in mid-Essex in terms of temperatures compared to other parts of the south-east. It hit 31C in Writtle at lunchtime, but a large amount of cloud pushed the temps back down and they never really recovered. Now there's total cloud cover - much more than forecast.

Wow. Sitting on balcony and thought someone had turned a hosepipe on. 30 seconds of the heaviest raindrops I've ever seen. Then..... erm... nothing else. Even had to double check it was falling from the sky and not a leak in the roof!!! :)

My cat came indoors panting from the heat and breathing fast, it really concerned me. I've cooled him down now and he seems to have returned to normal, but now he's whining to go out again as if he's forgotten what's just happened. Um. no, he's staying inside where it's much cooler until the outside temps drop.

If only they knew the things we do that annoy them are often for their own good.

hope not. I'm at the top!! Seriously. I'm still amazed. Looked down and the pavement dried almost as quick as the rain stopped. Hope someone else local witnessed it, or I'll start to wonder if the heat really has got to me!

Broken the record here for high temperatures (since recording started June 2002 - it was previously 36.2 recorded on the 6th August 2003, today it peaked at 36.3c.  Not too bad for July - although too hot for my liking.

Now here's a thought: today has been hotter than any single day during the famous summers of 1975, 76, 83 and 2006! :)
