Misty drizzle in London, hoping for some showers later but not too hopeful, haven't heard a single rumble of thunder since last summer here

Remember 6pm-9pm seems our best bet down here

It would be nice to see the sunshine though, this warm front is being a major irritant and I hope it doesn't decide to linger and as such stop any chance of showers down in this region.

A few flashes of lightning registered around the Birmingham area at approx. 13.30 and the area of heavy showers is moving in our direction. Here's hoping they keep building.

The Sat24 Lightning Detector makes our little UK storm look rather pathetic when compared with the hammering that Italy is receiving!! :shok:

The Alps enjoying an afternoon of storms too.

Radar shows lightning 5 miles from MK but I can't see or hear anything, all we have had is heavy rain for the last 20 mins.

We still haven't had any breaks in the cloud today and there is no wind.

Distant rumble just heard at 15:33. No idea where the lightning is supposed to be, the sky isn't being helpful.

Well light drizzle has given way to heavy drizzle. Only 16C here now.

The Strike Rate/Hour has been heading in the right direction. From 3/hour at 13.30 to 30/hour at 15.15 and now at 39/hour (16.00). But will the storm activity keep going long enough to reach our Region, before fizzling out this evening?

Been raining steadily here for the last 20 minutes (so tinybill's rain alarm was right), with the temp falling from 19C at lunch-time to 15.5C now.

Sun's out! Just in time

Lol you must have a hole in the clouds above Thorpe, haven't seen the sun all day here! Bit warmer at 20C and dry for the last few hours.

For the last 15min we have had very heavy rain here (Essex & Herts border). Any chance of thunder storms hitting our area today/tonight? What % chance would you say?

Well drizzle has given way to heavy convective rainfall with occasional lightning.

Doesn't look to be much happening, a few isolated strikes here and there but nothing to get excited about

Just had a heavy shower here, lovely to see but only lasted 2 minutes! Come on, you can do better than that...
