We're always stuck in no man's land it is either a fraction of a degree too warm for snow or we have freezing conditions but we have a fat HP cell sitting over us doing sod all. One day plumes, bog standard rain showers, supposed to be storms of cataclysmic proportions - It is getting tiresome. I think we just all should accept the UK has a mundane climate, even I can get dillusioned by those bright colours, let's be honest we're never going to compete with southern states. 'Always the Optimist'

Your talking of snow. Central Glasgow and the inner city are places that hardly ever get snow even if the outskirts and higher ground get it bad.. Many a time lots of cities in England get it bad nothing in Glasgow.. Yes common up here. Even frost are rare.. Don't want to break away from our summer too much

Hi there,

Centre of London is actually aside from the western fringes and Outer Hebrides snow hell. Urban metropolis just soaks up the heat of the day. Last winter was terrible however we did get a sprinkling, which was 'something' also many air frosts again not bad but snow is most sought after, the one before if memory serves me right was worst in living memory. Really poor. I hope this sequence is broken promptly!

I'd rather have a winter in Glasgow without doubt. :)

That's the thing though. Have no expectations and you won't be disappointed - just look at the normal parameters of the Estofex charts...

I saw nothing today. but was glad that East Anglia saw developing storms. :) I'm happy enough.

You have a point Steve but really deep inside you wanted all the storms all for yourself? :D

Winters in Glasgow can be very depressing.. That winter there was the usual W/NW airflow bringing cold but wet and unstable weather.. Hardly any Frosts at all but more mornings with Ice along with hazordous conditions on our pavements and roads at times.. On the other hand any winds from the N/NE or East brings cold but dry weather something we have had on previous winters bringing long dry periods..

Eastern Scotland actually decent in winter especially with westerly's. Lots of dry and sunny weather..

Didn't expect anything today but ended up with a storm so no disappointment here.

Well the coat is back on this morning and we have unexpected drizzle from the feature that seems to be developing over us

Apart from a brief shower late yesterday evening, there's nothing to report.

Cloudy 13 93% humidity, was expecting the humidity to drop last night, although 13 temp is quite chilly, I feel to hot. Will feel very warm if this cloud burns off.

Pretty darn grim to be honest, grey with patchy drizzle from time to time. Surprised given the main rain band is miles away and we have an off shore wind.

Can anyone actually get a handle on this weather?

You can tell when the Whitwell Steam and Rally shows on, in Codicote (!), cos it rains. Been an overcast misty morning, now chucking it down.

Thought it was supposed to be dry but cloudy?

It seems to be brightening up now in Chelmsford. This is good news for those of us who like to see the aircraft for the Trooping the Colour flypast at fairly low level over our houses at approx 12.55.

Most years we are in luck, but occasionally the route changes and we miss out.

Kind Regards

Dave

WANTED - Sunshine. Will travel to collect. Good price paid.

FOR SALE - Sun bed and sun cream. Hardly used.

Seriously though, what a disappointingly drab day for mid June. And a repeat performance tomorrow. It doesn't feel too cold at 16C and the drizzle has stopped, but I hate grey days.

Looks like the lucky folk in Kent and Sussex will see a bit of sun this afternoon. :good:

By the way, I checked my rain gauge this morning and we had 1.2mm of rain here from yesterday's poor effort. Not enough to fill a jam jar, let alone my empty water butt. :(

Warmer than expected 22.1C this is just 4C off yesterday despite the plume has shunted eastwards. Exemplifying warmth is quite easy to obtain in June as long as the sun is out it will suffice.

Feels really humid out here, not the predicted cool.

Sun poking out as well, yuk humidity.

Think if the sun stayed out for long  temps would rocket.

Must be over 18c already.

I agree with you, but it's not as warm as it feels, my temp says 13, the humidity is making it feel much warmer.
