A week to go and still believe a landing figure somewhere in the lower 6's likely end result, despite the forecast for a mild end. Perhaps 6.3 or 6.4 rather than 6-6.2 degrees with expected downward correction.

Sunny Sheffield at 5.7C no change for today unless it gets very cold before the rain arrives.

A cold day in the northern half of the country, many spots got down to at least -1 or -2 degrees, colder in rural spots with maxima of about 8-9 degrees = giving a mean of around 3 - 4 degrees, values more typical of mid January but not that noteworthy for the time of year.

I often find this time of year can catch many people out, it can still deliver preety cold weather, every bit as cold as mid winter under the right type of cold synoptics. Similar synoptics in late autumn/early winter tend to be milder thanks to warmer SST's and land.

An outside chance we could still come in below 6 degrees with downward adjustments, however, after today CET values will be milder than average at least until Monday which will put pay to such a end result I suspect. Low 6's more likely, another very near average month.

6.1C to the 26th

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/hadobs/hadcet/cet_mean_est_2015

Yesterday was 6.8C. The minimum today is 1.8C while maxima look like reaching the high 11s, so an increase to 6.2C is likely on tomorrows update.

After that, the 06z GFS has the CET at:

6.2C to the 28th (7.3)

6.3C to the 29th (9.8]

6.4C to the 30th (8.0)

6.4C to the 31st (7.3)

Seeing as the border between the cool and mild air sits close to the CET zone at times, a slight shift could see a bigger than usual change in the last few days. With that in mind, I'd say the finishing range is 6.2C to 6.6C, and 5.7 to 6.6C after corrections.

CET will nudge up a little over next 3 days, perhaps up to 6.4 degrees, final estimate with downward adjustment 6.2 degrees, which will be below the 81-10 average.

Sunny Sheffield at 5.8C and not likely to be a lot of movement from that value looking at the forecast. Although if it stays mild overnight due to the wind that would give it a nudge up.

Probably 6.5 degrees tomorrow, 6.6 degrees max but expecting quite a correction possibly 0.4 degrees, a good bet finishing value 6.3 degrees - preety representative of what has been a very average month with temps never too far from the norm throughout no notable cold or mild conditions at any stage.

6.5C should be the finish before corrections, so 6.0 to 6.5C after corrections.
