I think the real action will be later today in Kent (moreso East) and poss East Sussex when the colder air arrives from the continent. A chance of a streamer setting up and for once, on this cold period, that decent precip and low dp's will co incide

Yeah agree with that, looked at the NetWx-SR model and maybe a stream of showers moving in , late afternoon onwards

ha ha you couldnt make it up,its missing me again,im just to far east, what a winter this is.

Same here. Not to worry the "bitterly cold air" is coming in later. Might even get down as low as  3 or 4c. Wrap up warm!

In the end I did the usual errands, started off as light rain and then a few flakes of snow. Looks like the main action was west of here again.

If -9/-10 850s produce rain or sleet, then there may be some validity in global warming.

At the moment the upper temps are -6C.

That's an interesting thought process.

or the air below that level is too warm and wet and not conducive for snowfall?

(-9/-10C 850's are the same no matter what the state of global warming)

Yep will depend on wind / shower line direction whether you get something or bust.

Last hour - rain in Horley (Gatwick), light wet snow Redhill, heavier wet snow Merstham and Coulsdon, moderate wet snow South Croydon, now very light and very wet snow/sleet West Croydon/Wallington. all rather uninspiring.
