Can anyone in the pink zone shed any light on the precip type? It seems the heaviest band so far today is also going to be the biggest disappointment for Stoke and areas around it. Typical!

Very heavy rain now

struggle to see how polar low cause that, been 1.1c to 0.3 here since 3.30pm yesterday not gone below 0 been very consistent with low temps.

Started snowing in oadby again! Looks like leicester is about to get a good covering! ! I think areas east of a line birmingham stoke have snow now! ! Also this band could stall over us now for a few hours before sliding away!!

Lol dunno about the stalling part. Running the radar it shifting pretty quick. For our area we need it to slide southwards now more than to the east

Oh dear. Sleet here and snow cover getting sloppy and starting to go.

Turning into a bit of a theme this winter, snow events turning to rain. Although this time we'd managed to get quite far before it turned.

These NWerly set ups are just too risky for the West Midlands.

Yh i know tell me about it i think your area will stay as snow elevation is key and obviously further north just puzzled how a polar low is warming the uk up lol and its not just me reports all over the uk of the same thing happening

Bbc weather has most low lying levels in midlands turing to rain or sleet in the next hour or so. Hope for all you guys its wrong such a shame could have had a load from this as well. Slush fest here now

This latest chart from the polar low thread sums up the problem perfectly and whats coming, and the asl you will need to stay as snow

Despite it turning to rain, there was some amazing snowfall last night. We also kept our snow cover so it's not all bad.

This winter is such an improvement on last year. However, looking at the bigger picture, this is not a good winter so far. Right now it would rank with 2007 or maybe 2008 ( although that year, we had the best still to come).

Would now love to see some proper cold and powdery snow. That would help!

Ashby de la Zouch has had a fair amount of extra snow, maybe 2+ inches.  Enough that I'm not going into work right now, maybe later when a few more people have churned up the road.  Total blanket across the estate.

Just wet, here. No snow at all. This winter's been pretty poor for Malvern, I have to say.

As expected rain rain rain washed away the dusting we did have.

Recurring theme this winter, get the faintest of dustings between 4-6pm, washed away by next morning.
