Somehow managed to miss all this snow passing through the midlands, with nothing more than a bit of light snizzle. Miraculous really, dont know how it happened but it did, been watching the snow clouds passing south west nd north east of here all afternoon, wouldn't be the first time this happened though.

Send some this way PM,you have copped a good amount already by the looks.

Just a few flurries of sleety stuff so far but plenty of showery activity around the region coming from the north west.

Hopefully in this unstable flow chances of this continuing through to tonight so fingers crossed everyone.

Great while it lasted over two hours of snow that's me happy now. Tonite could be even more interesting a band crossing the mids could give the east mids quite a bit and anywhere could get a few cms later

Great pic....Almost blizzard conditions here Massive flakes :D Now who said it was just rain today to lower levels  This is just wonderful to watch

You are 121m ASL though, you aren't really that low down. Low ground would be ground under 50m really.

Still, I think this has been a bit better alresdy today than what was forecast :D it even snowed here at work in Didcot which is South Oxfordshire. Only 15-20 miles North of Reading! Plus we are on low ground. Didn't come close to settling though, temps are too high at around 4-5c.

Is Ironbridge cursed because of the power station

i would have thought  mainly due to altitude  jusr  checked you are  around 80  metres

Well that was lovely, and a tad unexpected.

Just listening to the dreaded drips now, and wondering about the double snowflake the MetO has for me for 7pm (got 80 people to notify if we need to close our karate school tonight!)

Probably sheltered by the Wrekin in northerlies. It's only about 40m down by the river there, though nearer 100 up on the sides of the gorge. Managed to settle here at 95m, melting in the sun but still there in the shade.

Why would the wrekin turn it into rain?

So what would it take for us to actually get snow here, and not rain

Must just be hit and miss with the nature of the showers. Snowed heavily at 1pm on Stafford Park Telford.
