Kind of soft hail/ice pellets but very heavy

 

Everywhere white though!!

heavy ice pellets mixed with rain here about 15 minutes ago. Temp dropped 1c in 5 minutes.

We have snow in central Norwich!

 OK began off as hail but now snow yes!!!!

 

Starting to cover on top! :)

Ice pellets falling here.

 

EDIT: now switching to snow, mixed with ice pellets and possibly graupel.

Well that's a surprise, went from 7 degrees and 1 degree DP to 2.7 degrees with DP -1 in the last hour or so. Appears to be drizzling outside, and very grey:(

afternoon all......here's the latest NW v6 radar shot for the south of England with ppn overlay on (rain = blue, sleet = green, snow = pink)

 

as you can see, plenty of instability around giving rise to some beefy wintry showers across southern England and into the south east. and notice how they are forming into pseudo streamers running WNW to ESE, and also notice how further to the west and north west that the showers are primarily snow, indicative of falling dewpoints and other more favourable parameters for snowfall.......keep the faith!
