Sleet here in Brighton! Maybe the snow dance worked? I will try another:

Let it snow,

Let it snow,

I'm the one for wind and cold, let it snow,

Let it snow,

And we will have no woes,

Let it snow,

Let it snow and it won't be a fight any more,

Let it snow,

Let snow,

And I will be happy once more!

Hi all

Did I miss something here? When I last looked/heard the chances of snow weren't meant to be until the early hours yet lots of people are now throwing in the towel and saying its a non event. Now I am confused. Maybe I should spend some time and read back through the last few pages to see whats happening

Sleety rain here in Farnham Surrey

I've been looking at our lamppost but can only see rain. Sounds a bit more sleety on the conservatory roof, though

I do not follow Biggin. I do not understand how some in here are 'evaluating' when it's not even concluded far from it. Early hours is the optimum time. And going by the MO it will not be getting icy, tonight so why did a gritter go past? Something to ponder.

Friday was showing as 7c a couple days ago, now 3c. It will nudge up over weekend but interesting that even a mild lover on BBC forecast seemed to suggest colder trend again.

Its marginal so sounds reasonable with the added height.

The lengths we will go to.

The MetO does have precipitation of some form over different parts of the South East all night on its radar.

You've got to laugh, 17 pages on this thread since 5:00pm, with absolutely no snow!  We are clearly getting serious withdrawal symptoms.

Not quite true

Council have excess grit not used much this year or end of last ??. Maybe you have been advising the council this year?? :) TBH I would think the council get their forcast from the met or close too, so I dont know why. But the gritters are getting double bubble out the council taxes so they aint moaning.

Don't go in the midlands thread you will get depressed not happy with the type of snow flake

Very heavy snow here. Interestingly not huge flakes, perhaps 20p size but absolutely tonnes of them. Arn't the flakes usually huge in marginal situations ? I thought smaller flakes meant it was colder/less marginal..

Yay! just started snowing here, that's the 4th snow shower since Saturday, before that the only soft fluffy white thing I had seen for almost 2 years was cotton wool!

Even if this is all the snow I get for the winter its still better than last year :)
