You can if its a modern one.

I'm currently experiencing modern snow AKA cold rain

Brilliant - I also witnessed "modern disruptive snow" this afternoon when some of the students in my class looked briefly out of the window and exclaimed "look sir it's nearly snowing" before turning their attention back to their studies.

It's the modern snow drifts I can't stand! The type that collect on the car windscreen in the form of hail...deadly!

TBH I think it's quite silly having a thread for this 'Polar Low' Polar the other one!

Could you imagine we had a thread for every LP system to cross the UK? It's almost laughable!

IF the low drops correctly could this result in a lot of snow tonight?

IM afraid not JAY the centre of the system has warm sector rising 2c ,so we wait for Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday many more snow chances to come! great spell of wintry weather.

How's the beginning of next week looking?

Risk of snow Monday and Tuesday, small feature moving southwards Monday could give snow. Too far away really for any accuracy. A 100/couple hundred miles change can make a huge difference between rain/snow

How's the beginning of next week looking?

More unstable N N N Westerly flow,We normally get HP near to us waiting for a attack from LP from the SW , but this spell of weather is unusual because get a sustained N N westerly flow is rare, im sitting on the fence waiting for the next 4 to 5 memorable weather days coming.

Temperatures on the rise here, winds started to gust occasional 30mph. Looks like it will end up wet and windy by dawn!

God the Yorkshire bunch are confident, already estimating snow depths!!

It's like listening to New Zealand in a pre match press conference before they play us. Irritating but correct.

Very nice outlook

Further snow showers will affect parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday leading to some locally large accumulations and the showers may spread along eastern and western coasts of England and Wales. The showers will be associated with strong winds so drifting and temporary blizzard conditions are possible as well as icy stretches. The public should be aware of the potential for disruption from these conditions.

Snow showers are likely to continue to affect similar areas into Monday bringing further accumulations. Meanwhile, there is a risk of a more persistent spell of rain, sleet and snow affecting Wales, the Midlands and southwest England on Monday. This alert has therefore been extended into Monday and now covers these additional areas, but this is more uncertain and therefore further updates are likely in the coming days.

It's currently 3.1°C here. Dew point 0.3°C. Winds westerly.

Who knows what will happen. Didn't expect the snow and hail earlier either.

I'm interested in the Fax charts when they come out because the GFS is teasing us tonight with that first low on monday , it's a lot closer to us and it will be interesting to see what the MO say's.

The temperatures in nw wales seem to have gone up at present so we need them to drop during heavy precipitation for it to be snow. Currently raining in strong winds

Temperatures rising, 4c now, we're on the wrong side of this low, and probably will stay that way. North and east wales may do better.

North and East, hopefully South and East will do better to ! ~ This low certainly didn't track throught North England through central, ~ it's more likely to track to Portsmouth at this rate!
