Heavy snow up here, large flakes and starting to settle and it looks like there's more where that came from.

Sky is positively orange out to my West.

I was just having a read in the SW forum and Fergie posted. People were disheartened and he said he was just out of a conference and not to judge the situation too early. Sounds like the MO expect the real stuff to arrive a little later.

precipitation seems to be missing here even though its showing as snowing on the radar, its hardly a flake every 5 minutes.

Just driven back from Ponthir to Bassaleg (outskirts of Newport.) Was some sleety rain but not much more. Can't see lower levels getting anything more than sleet tonight. Hope I'm wrong, but a ten minute drive up the road to Crumlin should hopefully cure my snow bug for now! I wonder what the likes of us lot in SW Wales/ Bridgend/ Cardiff/ Newport would give for a couple of centimetres!

Probably good higher up but down here at 80m asl its sleety rubbish and everywhere is as wet as if it had rained. Dew point above zero so all in all very disappointing.

Ditto. Everywhere soaking here. It's a sad day when uppers of -6&-7 with a dam of around 522 can't produce snow unless you're at 200m.

I'm a little concerned; the Beacons seem to be sapping the showers of their energy. Nothing but dribs and drabs has fallen here for over the last hour.

banging it down here now with snow and everything turning white

I was holding out for the midnight to 5am forecast and it's looking really good out there right now. Very heavy so I hope the temp drops and it sticks

Was hoping that blob of PPN would make it far enough east so I could see a bit more sleet. I fear not though. Tonight's not the night!
