Interesting weather the next few days even on low lying areas ! snow cover possible. in the heavier bursts

Remaining breezy with further blustery showers. These becoming increasingly wintry even to lower levels, bringing an ice risk. Some snow accumulations are likely over higher ground. Minimum Temperature 0C.

Monday:

Windy with possible gales in exposure. Sunny spells and further wintry showers, heavy at times with a local thunder risk. Further snow accumulations over hills, possibly to lower levels too. Maximum Temperature 8C.uksnowrisk.png

euro 4 general idea - but you can usually expand on what's shown - ie expect plenty of wintriness to all levels

Ireland reporting snow in places already

The Met Office have generally been spot on this winter so I'd just follow their warning maps. Mid and north Wales high ground above 200m I'd say for settling snow but possibly a bit to lower levels. South Wales probably just sleet or hail.

Happy St David's Day to you Welsh. :)

Happy St David's Day to you also Daniel - I bet the lamb roast dinners are the order of the day today - and the music of choirs through the valleys

Met Office Forecast

Tonight:

Remaining breezy with further blustery showers. These becoming increasingly wintry even to lower levels, bringing an ice risk. Some snow accumulations are likely over higher ground. Minimum Temperature 0C.

Monday:

Windy with possible gales in exposure. Sunny spells and further wintry showers, heavy at times with a local thunder risk. Further snow accumulations over hills, possibly to lower levels too. Maximum Temperature 8C.

--------------------------------

I think this will follow the format of this "winter" so far, so you are likely to be correct that settling snow will be (very) limited. But some falling snow is likely/possible pretty much anywhere in amongst more general wintry showers.

Heavy wet snow showers earlier this morning. Not sticking at 200m but giving the Moelwyns a good covering.

Another reminder from me of what winter is capable of around here when the perfect conditions align:

s12.jpg

s6.jpg

s9.jpg

s1.jpg

s5.jpg

s8.jpg

January 1982, Nelson. It has to be at least 60-70cm deep in the second-to-last pic, judging by its depth compared to the windows.

This picture from nearby Treharris seems to show even greater depth, but I'm not sure if this is 1963 or 82. Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable about cars knows the answer.

Now, let's look forward to a potentially warm, sunny Spring and whatever Summer brings, it'll nice to see the lush, verdant foliage again, and let's hope next winter is drastically different to the one currently in its death throes.  :)

Well a bit of a covering this morning on the grass and the snow on the car was baked on quite hard so must have been a sustained period of clear skies after the fall - when I went to bed about midnight it was heavy sleety rain so guessing this was early hours of the morning.

Bring on Spring now enough of sleet and slush for one winter.
