I really don't mind December being rubbish so long as January and February deliver copious amounts of cold & snow  :)

In fact, I'd even settle for a poor January so long as February gives us something worthwhile.

Bish

I agree with you Bish. The snowy months are January and February. I'm not bothered about December -a few decent frosts will do me!

A very pleasant day here today. Plenty of sun, not too windy, and almost dry (just one v brief shower). Maxed out at 8.4C. Lovely in the polytunnel doing a bit of tidying up ready for next year.

A fine day in prospect.

A day for getting out and about.

Just been up Beacon Hill in Sedgely with the dog. Not too bad a day, the wind up there makes it feel cold though.

All the model output recently reminds me of two years ago...might not be the same sypnotics but the possible outcomes seem similar. An excellent cold spell predicted by one of the models just before Christmas...quickly taken away and replaced with the chance of a quick northerly for Boxing Day which itself then dissappeared. We never then got a look in until half way through January but we got there in the end. Then there was that March...

It doesn't seem so cruel and dramatic this time around though. And the chance for some kind of northerly hasn't been completely eradicated yet.

Still...back on a local level...a few quiet days like this on the run up to Christmas suits me fine.

Several models have the storm in about the same place on the same day, so something lokks as though it may be brewing. Uppers are in the range -10 to -5C for the whole of the UK. The cooler temps looks as though they are in the west, so there may be some snow for quite a lot of us Midlanders. I am just glad I am well away from the east coast, the waves and winds could be mega. Edited by picog
