Nice to hear reports of falling snow around the Nottingham, Shrewsbury and (as always) Peak District areas  :good:

It was a bit of a damp squib here last night to be honest, in fact very similar to the boxing day experience - an hour or so of moderate snow which was soon washed away in the hours that followed.

I think what annoyed a lot of people were the weather warnings which were issued yesterday morning, up until then most of us had relatively low expectations.

Stiperstones village - 30 minutes of moderate wet snow falling, varying temperature 1.6C current from 0.9C.

The overnight dusting on old snow thawed. Further sugar coated with light graupel at 9.00am.

All a load of rubbish really. The met office are totally inept - ensure warnings cover a big area and everthing is forgiven. I don't think so!

Top of the stiperstones are still white over from the other day.

Snowing quite quickly here in North Nottingham and settling everywhere, somewhat surprised as thought it would have turned to rain.  :cold:  :hi:

Looks like we are in the centre of the low pressure system as all the rain/snow is rotating around us.

So frustrating to see some around Sheffield (again) steal our snow, 5/6inches in some places

My mum has said it's a good 6/7 inches.deep in Garden at Dronfield.

Hmmm....

Frustrating to hear all the snow reports coming in from North Nottingham and here a couple of miles south of Nottingham its just light rain after an earlier sleet shower this morning.

To be honest it feels too warm for snow here at the moment.

Cheers

FC

Looks we have more chance of some sun rather than snow at the moment!

yes we have been lucky again...we really have had some fantastic snow falls here in the last 4 years... dec 10 and march 13 were without doubt the best... still hoping for some more action before april arrives...and hoping others that have missed out get a proper snow event as well..

Gutted isn't the word. All the bloody snow floating

around us leaving us in the crappy dry gap.

Unbelievable bad luck for West Midlands.

You really should consider moving if you are so disturbed by the climate of the lowland Midlands :)

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
