Depending on the movement of the Lp sliding down the north sea 850hpa temps may become marginal for snow along the coasts.

Had a light flurry of snow here about half an hour ago and looks to be some decent stuff heading our way on radar.

Its all to play for at this point unless you are right on the coast.  The shower activity is really intensifying  now to the NNE.  Could be some real heavy ppn.

Temp has remained 1.5-1.7c here for the last 2 hours.  I was hoping for it to be a degree lower by now.

Is jarrow classed as being right on the coast? Never know if we are classed as coastal or not

I agree with liz the term coastal is a load of dog biscuits. Someone who lives in Once Brewed would probably class Newcastle as coastal whereas to me shields and roker is coastal

To be more specific.  3 miles or less from the coast.

Nice to see a woman posting.

Your sort are always right, so a question for you.

Will I see settling snow tonight?

You've just made that up, there is no scientific logic to that statement :D

That clump of showers is heading towards us at quite a pace now. :D

That sort of talk is up there with Love Thy Neighbour as the sort of thing that belongs firmly in the 70s

Calm down flower.

It was just a tongue in cheek comment.

The track looks like it's headed slightly inland rather than down the coast - more direct S than SSE.

Temp risen by 0.5c to 2.0c. I suspect the wind direction has charged slightly to bring some sea modified air in.  Not looking good at this point for (my area).  PPN closing in.  looks to be 45 mins away.....

Best get my washing in.

That's if it's still on the line, such are the gusts of wind.

My comment was based on 30 years of experience of travelling from between 10 miles and 0 miles to the coast in marginal snow situations.  3 miles in can often mean the difference between sleet and lying snow.  Not scientific, but good enough for me to make a post.
