Think you'll be able to make it over? I'll admit i was quite wrong about this event, i thought it seemed to marginal for those away from the peaks.

GFS 18z clears precipitation post mid-night, although at this stage its just a case of radar watching

Just look at those showers pushing in from the north sea coast around the northern extent of our precipitation, hopefully this will pep up the northern arm later on and give some heavy stuff before it clears.

You sure its not 9CM, that what the photo says Mark. ;)

Great photos and I'm sure it is a surprise for you, the system is definately further North than forecast and well I can only dream of seeing scenes like those.

Haha its a make shift ruler. Every year this happens to me, i always lose it when the snow comes! Hopefully you get some snow showers later!

Snow pretty heavy now, cars struggling to get up the slope since the roads covered.

Snowing heavily in Barnsley now, and we've probably got about 4cm. Radar image is quite confusing as it would indicate fairly light snow, but that isn't the case. Also, precip seems to be pivotting over South Yorkshire, so prospect of more to come. This has turned out much better than I had anticipated.

i have spent an hour and 15 minutes trying to get from one of town, back to home on the other, due to cars, including ours getting stuck on the hill. We have had about 3 inches here, and the rest of ads are treacherous, with them looking like they haven't even been gritted. Even the A1 is covered in snow, with trees down on it and cars stuck all over the place and it is still snowing heavily now... Ido love it though

Hopefully get another 1hr out of this before it clears away. Much better than I thought it would be about 5cm here in huddesfield.

11cm on the wheely bin, been snowing now for 4 hours and its still coming down steadilly.

Exceeded the MetO's 10cm and still going.

Snowplow/gritter has passed twice now but not plowing or gritting here, must be heading

straight out to the M1.

I'm throwing in the towel tonight for snow in these parts. The temperature and dew point seem to be rising not declining. Why is this? The sleety rain is very heavy so I was hoping for evaporation cooling.

Still rain here...!!

It would seem we are the wrong side of marginal this time, one of the downsides of living near a relatively warm North sea. Here's hoping we are luckier next time, when ever that may be.
