Been bright and sunny for much of the day, I walked back in the late dusk and did notice some cloud moving from the west and it has started to rain here now.

We had a few splatters of rain earlier, but it amounted to nothing here. Wind starting to pick up here now also.

Hya se forum.... I used to be on here when i lived in faversham.... You may feel snow starved, but last winter up here was abominable, like big foot.... Had snow fall from the sky twice....this winter has already beaten that, this past week weve had two mornings with 1-2cm of drifted snowy slush.... And ice.... This winter will be better than the last....

Wet and windy here, think that is me in for the night (not that I was planning on going out anyway).

Slightly surprised with this covering of hail/sleet/snow this morning. Roads were treacherous

You'd have won the snow cup last winter with that, not sure how we will fare this winter. But current indications not looking so good despite tentative signs from Ian F for late december early jan to offer something "different". The potential SSW could be a lifeline. Meanwhile not much talk in here about the wind, strong gusts of 50-60 widely in the South East including Essex touching 70 in places. :help:

Evening guys and girls, as Dainel has rightly pointed out, very windy tonight in the region with 50-60mph inland and 70mph on the coast any showers or fronts perhaps squall lines will increase the wind further!!

Daniel! :p at least its not Daniella my pet hate- fortunately the worst of winds during the small hours. Imagine such wind gusts at rush hour, all the same I would think some disruption is possible. GFSP not making much of the wind at all, little uncertain unpredictability makes it exciting, in some ways.

Some of this

Rain hitting the windows here now, looking stormy out there.

Yes and they've increased it from what they were forecasting only late this afternoon. Sea areas Lundy and Fastnet have had similar upgrades too (albeit not to Force 11)

We can only wait and see. Only very exposed coastal locations near the area should see those sort of winds too. A buffeting and noisy sort of end of night / when we wake, for sure.

Rain has just started here, with a bit more wind in the mix. But nothing to strong for now, I think the stronger winds come later.

Just looked at the inshore waters forecast and (as at my posting time) the Met Office have forgotten to post any of Friday's conditions, but have posted the outlook for the following 24 hours.

He he! They've now corrected.

Good spot Steve, interesting that a few areas have been upgraded compared to forecasts made earlier this afternoon. Storm force 11 is sustained winds of 64-73mph!

You can never have too much banter as long as it is interspersed with weather chat. :) this is what maked this regional so special - not forgetting the anecdotes... seems we lost some of the spark lets put the 'throttle down'. It has been a little icy in here, we all need some love. 😊

Weather wise: mild 8.5C warmest I've known since November.

Edit: it'll get going 12 tonight and will peak around 6am those in south Kent are in for a bumpy ride.

Contrary to expectations, the wind seems to have dropped markedly here. Or is it just the calm before the storm?

So just to reiterate - everyone is warned to watch out for Severe Gales tonight........

.......or alternatively we may just end up with a weak gale.

This, it seems calmer now than it was when I last posted. Very strange.

Edit: The wind is back now and stronger than it was. Guess it's starting.
