Atlantic Storms Autumn 2014

Just walked back from the other half's and my goodness, the gusts were strong (not as bad as a couple of months ago) but still slowed my walking down to a stand-still. When I was at his, we had the window open and there was nothing... so it seems for us down South-West that it suddenly has spiked up in the past 30 mins.

No rain here either - which is good. Just wind.

Still pretty calm here. Traffic seems a lot busier this time of the morning, seems as though they are expecting something :-) we were like whats this queue doing here!?

Malin head N Ireland just hit 71mph, winds gusting into the 60's here with squally showers blowing through. stormiest morning for quite a while!

Yeah, ok. I see the wind is gusting well into damaging for this time of year but here it's a bit breezy but not even windy and not even anywhere near damaging yet!

I was dodging some decent sized branches etc on my drive this morning.  As ever it depends on location, when I left Leeds it was breezy and wet, other side of the penines it is much windier, not horrific but strong enough to bringing some fair size branches off and make the car move around enough to slow you down.

Yes its windy but its nothing unusual here so far, its sunny too could be early this afternoon before we see the peak in the NE

A thoroughly unpleasant morning here. First the rain, then the wind, then the hail, then the thunder and lightning. I've still got the lights on as well.

 

But now the sun's just come out!

I see the whole of the UK is under a warning now?! It is very windy down here. Although, the current wind direction makes it less noticeable than a Southerly gale.

 

The NMM3 shows the winds increasing in the north and northwest from around midday, as well as north Wales. Then they increase down eastern Scotland and eastern counties of England later this afternoon.

Plenty to come yet!

Well that is true because all its been a very windy night with strong gusts here, the wind gusts have picked up considerably here, the sun is out but it keeps darkening and trying to rain. Dustbins have all taken off down the road lol Edited October 21, 2014 by SparkleS
