Hi JP

with regards to the gps plot, does this entail that pressure is building there,i know that when then graph drops, the caldara is dropping,at least i think it is,still non the wiser in this game.

there is talk of a +5 mag recently,i suspect this is not confirmed yet.

big drop on gps now.

hi allseasons

your correct

the drop is showing still

although slower

when you get an uplift that shows pressure has released on it briefly

possibly slightly less magma flow or possibly a gas release from somewhere

although so hard to call as you would need to see inside exactly what its doing

All of a sudden the fissure eruption appears to have almost stopped in the Mila webcam. Either there are problems with the webcam or the fissure got blocked due to all the earthquakes!

Edit: it is starting again now so it was not a webcam problem.

USGS has it at 5.1

  1. 5.1108km WNW of Hofn, Iceland2014-09-16 22:34:15 UTC+01:005.0 km

could change though.

it also has a 3.1 in Alaska @m 194.3km deep. Thats a pretty deep earthquake.  :shok:

Looks like it just finished.

Maybe we will begin to see pressure rise again now there is nothing coming to the surface.

Or the quiet before the big eruption.

Who knows but this really keeps this interesting.

WTF!!!

the lava flow has stopped,is the chamber sucking it back for a eruption?

I think the earthquakes have blocked the fissure. It was going strong until the last earthquake. It is not due to magma running out as then it would slowly die out. This seemed turning off like a switch!

HI John

Do you think the last big quake has caused the caldera to collapse over the chamber thus effectively cutting off the supply of magma?

If only they had nigh vision on the cams as well. we would be able to see the glacier to check nothing has changes there,
