Can't recall often seeing such amounts lightning generated by showers over the sea in an Atlantic flow as the last couple of days.. the high sea temps probably have a part to play.

Egham of course went through a gap between heavy downpours just to the north and south yesterday. Maybe better luck today. It's this time of year, just as I go back to uni, where I wish I was near the coast as it becomes a better bet for thunderstorms and other interesting weather.

Plenty of loud rumbles here in Solihull at the moment.

Absolutely tipping it down, and very dark too although blue skies on the far horizon.

It's all going off here. Thunder, Lightning, Hail and very blustery winds.

Farmer Barleymow picked a right old day to put a new fence up.

Fantastic night of 4hrs of occasioal thunder and lightening across S Wales ,great view of the swansea valley lightening up briefly ,better entertainment than anything TV can offer.

We were woken by thunder last night at around 22.30, that was after earlier thunder had seemingly died out.

They are moving, running SW-NE along the almost static trough presumably.

It's a superb sky watching day, so many CBs and clear blue sky breaks in between with it all moving rapidly on the strong wind. A quick estimation by using the radar suggests showers are moving at about 75mph!

Yeah you're right. Incidentally, I'm registering wind direction from the WSW. Is the trough supposed to move east at all today?

Gunshot thunder going on. Best storm of the year for me!

This is insane! A whiteout from the rain, so much thunder & lightning too.

6.2mm in the last 20 mins.

I'll revise that, 11mm in 25 mins, Netatmo station just updated.

I can see on the radar that the storms have got your name on today, Mapantz!  Great videos.

We've had very little rain here so far, a couple of rumbles about an hour and a half ago from a system that went to the NW of us.  Another line heading this way, but not showing any lightning...yet.

Forgot about this one, I saw an intense flash just milliseconds before I started recording. I just wanted to get the thunder as it was extremely deep- it bellowed through my ribcage. lol

That was a corker, Mapantz!

We've had much more rain and another rumble in the distance since my last post.  This line is going over us now instead of round!

Cool vids Mapantz.

Heaviest rain of the day in the last half an hour which has been fairly squally at times. I'm thinking there must be some wind convergence causing these continual streamers to keep forming, the one affecting my town stretches right down to near Exeter!

Hot out of the camera, plus a rainbow from an hour ago.

Looks like this disappointing day is about to produce a shower - the last one in the Severn Estuary area. What are chances like for tomorrow and Saturday?

I feel your pain - virtual a bone dry day here in Weston. Shower look few and far between tomorrow, so less likely than today & yesterday.
