you're in for more by the looks of things and more discrete cells/storms are starting to fire over Essex & Suffolk (not sure on my geography!).....plenty more chance for members in the south east to see more storms, and indeed for those who've so far missed out......initial area of showers/storms now tracking south westwards towards the Dorset, Hants & West Sussex coasts

your geography is fine,as i was reading your post, another almighty boom from a new cell to my North, working its way in! Blue sky dissapearing again.

Very wind direction and storm direction for those in the far south east, unless something forms over Ashford or Canterbury! A north west direction would be better

Sky darkening again upwind of me over northern London, another storm coming hopefully.

Herstmonceux (E Sussex) noon radiosonde ascent showed a fairly unstable profile with a temp of 25C and dew point of 16C, cloud tops to around 31,000ft:

Wish I was back in Bucks, I'd have chased this one bit further south of here or just stuck my head out the window for lazy viewing. But in Exmoor it's about 26 C and not a cloud in the sky.

Violent thunderstorm here in SE13 in the last hour, towering cumulonimbus over blue skies and then black as night.Torrential rain, streets flooded.Loud booming thunder, several cg forks.Baking hot again now! Perfect summer weather, and unexpected.

Sounds amazing! Now I'm thinking about heading south to see if I can get under it

Looks like Swindon will have a chance of seeing something shortly if the shower continues to develop!

Swindon again haha they seem to be a storm magnet lately not complaining nice to see storm development further north and west of main storm.

Dark clouds looming here, windy too. Bit of distant thunder audible.

This sort of weather can interrupt my afternoon sunny garden snooze any time. :D

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
