Lots of convection and some congestus cloud seen here in NW1 when I popped out for a coffee 20 mins ago. Even had a few spots of splodgy rain. Safe to say I reckon we'll being getting a thunderstorm here this afternoon seeing what's kicking off in Essex right now.

Looks like some storms likely around the capital this afternoon with most of southern England at risk of some slow moving thundery downpours.

The risk fades overnight but looks to erupt again tomorrow. I am unable to post charts until tomorrow as without laptop.

Im surprised to see the line of turkey towers is getting longer and a bit higher. Could do something nearby on the other hand could fade just as easy.

In these setups, my chances normally come closer to 5 or 6pm- which the BBC and MO agree with. They have the elusive thunderstorm icon for here later.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
