Bring it on !!

I think I will go out on my bike ride early and go up some local high ground and watch for activity. IOW is only 30~40 miles south and surely flashes will be visible from the Hogs Back. I'm NOT going to miss this one.

Hope the Saturday (and even Sunday) potential continues for this area - I will be VERY happy if we get several hours of severe thunderstorm activity.

The trough must be engaging more unstable air suddenly the lightning detectors have picked up big time!

Could be looking good for the Midlands near Dawn, especially Southern and Western parts!

I think sometimes it's a case of too much information being available etc. It would appear now that anything under about 2k J/KG CAPE is some sort of major downgrade? A) it's a forecast B) It is not the 'be all end all' and C) we can and will still witness very impressive storms with much lower values than that.

Kicking off here, frequent flashes and rumbles looking over towards the south over mendips. But still what is more more elusive is my welcome to netweather from the mods ha ha ha :-)

Tony Gilbert on UKWW for tonight:

'The theta in general looks initially blunt and really doesn't resemble a plume at all. Though by early Friday morning a more visually spiked theta plume looks to become apparent and GFS currently introduces some very strong thunderstorm activity (possible MCS) primarily Dorset through to central regions overnight. '

So looks like those that are kicking off now are related to this and could stay quite strong and active into the Midlands. :)

Frequent, almost constant lightning and distant thunder here presently, slowly increasing in intensity.
