It sucks being an island sometimes... would of been awesome to have chased that storm!!! The lightning must be absolutely stunning.

I would have thought it was the wind convergences in that area that's the trigger rather than heating. Temps at 850hpa are higher there than here if capping is an issue here.

I have been a few times on a tobacco run with a friend I know just inside the Belgium border, we go there and back in a day! That's not that far away but makes all the difference hehe

Can see some cap cloud to my SW, over the Sheffield way. Some Cu bubbling beneath it, but not getting near.

I'd give a right arm to Be in Belgium right now. How many times have I said that in the last decade now... !

Well although the cold front's passed through, it still felt very warm standing in the sun taking these pictures:

Pics 1 & 2 are of a few nice towers building to the west, lovely cloud base on the second one as well:

Pics 3 & 4 are of the thundery shower looking WNW towards Telford/Newport, of which I heard 2 or 3 faint rumbles of thunder:

Those two pics actually correlate nicely to the satellite pic below, I've marked where I'm standing as a red 'x'. You can see the clouds in the foreground to the south east of the cell quite well.

I've slotted the radar image in alongside as well as the sferics :)

Got some cool videos of convection around my area, I will upload them later, but it does seem today that there was a cap which has limited potential, hopefully tomorrow bodes well...

Looking at the EURO4, I wonder if tonight will see something similar to last night?

Definitely keeping my eye on this!

The possibility of some overnight sharp showers is certainly there, but I think thundery activity will be minimal. We had high values of MLCAPE to sustain the storms last night...tonight both SB and ML CAPE is low to non-existent.

Saying that though, the Met Office rainfall forecast has updated to show more extensive showers pushing in...

Don't think I will be up that late again though :p

These features will likely be the focus of thundery showers during Sunday across Ireland, Wales C/N England and Scotland as the day wears on.
