Just had a huge crack of thunder and lightning right over the house! :shok:

The cloud just the the N/NW of me is producing the thunder- just had a huge bang that made me jump! But not seen any lightning yet, and only a light smattering of rain.

Maybe what's following on behind it will produce the real show?

The grey stratiform skies of an hour ago have now been replaced by some quite convective and disturbed looking skies.

Two distinct lines of showers developing Worcester to Grantham and Southampton to West London as well as the thundery showers over London and in a line down from London to the SE. I am hoping that the Worcester-Grantham one sparks up as it's heading my way.

nothing remotely thundery will happen here as usual in this,  the most thunder free part of england,

just 100 percent overcast with murky drab stratus and moderate rain, and very cool again for late may day, yuk ,  just like late october

there has only been one very distant rumble here since last october,  outrageous !

Looks like a wind convergence zone around the same place as yesterday,so maybe places like York

in the firing line yet again!

Radar looking quite encouraging. Could be quite widespread thunder reports across central, southern and eastern England this afternoon :)

They do appear to be dying to the north west of London, seemingly struggling a bit. Not so for the SE though, some heavy radar returns from here with a number of sferics.

Had torrential rain about half hour ago and now it's rumbling and banging away a treat - dark skies but no lightning observed. Typical timing lol

Am in Medway today by the way
