Wouldn't like to bet on it, but it looks like it gonna miss most of us by miles.

When looking at these strikes over France i must say they look very impressive, if this were over the UK it would reach from Southampton to Leeds with ease.

Yes! Surrey, i would love to boogie on down... lol!

When you point out the fact that it would reach from Southhampton to Leeds it really puts it into perspective!

Amazing storms that is seems like we can only dream of having here!

I don't actually see the potential for any lightning over England until at least tomorrow morning..  :unknw:

Is the rain a 'sure thing', because my plants need watering, but I don't want to water them and then 30mm of rain turns up and drowns them all!

Well, the UKMO precip forecast has updated and is disappointing to say the least.

It has the huge red and pink blobs its been promising for a while now nothing more than spatterings - any heavy stuff confined to the more eastern coastal areas.

Looking good for the SE tonight, if those storms running up central france can hold the channel. The Jet should drive these storms a little westwards as well.

Just had a quick look at the sky around my area and counted around 6 cumulus clouds shooting up as I speak...

Has someone flicked the switch?

Studying wind maps, precipitation and lightning date I see the main bulk of what is happening in France actually position itself slightly more west as appose to just clipping the east. Whether its stays electrified is a different story though.

I would have thought he has the latest info as it has been Phil Avery providing the forecasts all day so these must be new forecasts.

As for tomorrow, the latest WRF/NMM has a swathe of England from the North Midlands southwards as having some quite decent CAPE building up tomorrow along with heavy precipitation.

If the storms in France remain electrified then they do look to hit the UK shores.

Regarding tomorrow, just for fun really as I doubt it will happen, but look at the GFS large hail parameter - that is indicating 4-6cm diameter hail touching the SE!

Agreed old info! BBC weather today had the rain clearing the Midlands by mid morning... New update as the precipitation over us till at least lunchtime!

Edit, i think that maybe in the form of showers following on behind.

Ah ok, just looked at the radar for the first time in a while and theres a load of rain east of me and Norwich. Lightning lacking I know but did surprise me. Not all that hot here and now overcast. Feeling more humid now though.
