Sunny here and feeling warm despite the strong breeze. 17C.

Walked the dog along the beach at Lunan Bay yesterday afternoon in the sunshine.

Felt almost like Summer though there were large waves following on from the Easterly winds of the previous few days.

I hereby name the coming week....The Week of the Hoolie! Been blawin' and flingin' horizontal rain at us for the past three days. Going to get a bit worse Monday night/Tuesday morning. Been so warm too...switched the central heating off and didn't bother even lighting the fire! Tell me...is it really October? it feels more like early July!

Yes it's certainly been mild, we've had two consecutive days with max temps of 18c at Leuchars. A bit cooler than that in Crail.

Sunny spells this morning, 14c in a SWly wind averaging 31mph, gusting 43mph (Leuchars readings).

Very inclement weather leading on from it feeling unseasonably mild - had a drive to Prestwick Airport at 4am this morning to drop some family off for a holiday. Very strong winds on the way, plenty of squally showers tracking through.

Satellite is a good picture this morning, and up and coming ex-Gonzalo will really shake things down for rush hour on Tuesday morning. Will feel like Autumn proper, and only one week away from clocks changing and perma-dark !

Be interesting to see how ex-Gonzalo behaves once it catches the jet, above the GFS control run last night really cranked it through.

Speedy Gonzalo.. :)

Dry, sunny and currently 17.3C here. Just remind me, exactly what month it is again? Breezy though. A good drying day as my mum would say.

Mild again here today with a max of 15C. Didn't feel so warm with the strong winds. Just an odd spot of rain in the wind as the clouds mainly broke up to our West.

Some heavy showers here with strong gusts of wind. Very cloudy evening translated to darkness by 6 so feeling very autumnal!

So calm out there, not a breath of wind! The calm before the next Hoolie then. Temp 11c and cloudy.

Tomorrow will bring the first proper taste of winter on the mountain - preety severe windchill and heavy snow showers down to quite low levels. Some low maxima likely over Highland and Grampian regions and even on lower ground under showers temps will probably struggle to get above 6 degrees. Quite a shock to the system, but will be good to feel some proper polar air.

Evening all, pretty crappy day albeit a warmish, showers and stiff breeze. Just back from a week in Skegvegas, and it was great for the most part (Monday excluded)

North sea not very warm though. lol

Not looking forward to sitting on the runway tomorrow morning at 6am, think the pilot might save fuel and let Gonzalo take us somewhere other than Londonshire.

Breezy drying day here with sunny intervals, currently 9c.. Pulling a couple of loads of neeps for cattle for the next few days in case it gets too wet.

See on BBC News Scotland that there are record numbers of geese in the Montrose Basin just now .They mentioned the last time there were so many at this time was 2010!!!   Anyone believe in the goose weather  forward forecasting model?

I think it's one of the better long range bird-based forecasting tools, an upgrade on TEITS' seagull model and streaks ahead of the CFS, with similar vertical resolution

Looks fairly blowy tomorrow (although not as bad as the worst storms we've seen since 2011) and once again a storm which likes to target the bridges at rush hour - 40 knots sustained wind progged for Fife at 9am:

14102109_2_2018.gif

The far NE corner could see some awful winds around mid-afternoon - wouldn't advice going out on the North Sea certainly:

14102115_2_2018.gif

Given the way it's lined up there's no chance of a topographically 'well-aligned' sting jet roaring through the central belt this time, but areas exposed to NWerlies will likely see sustained gale force winds for most of the day:

Another very wet 48 hours for the west coast:

Well nothing too extreme here so far. In Kemnay at 8am we were sat at 7.3C, 2mm of rain since midnight and it was windy but not unusually so. Looking outside at work in Dyce it's still windy but dry with lots of low grey cloud. Not really expecting it to get any worse than it is currently, so it's nothing compared to some of the storms we had last winter.

Right where's the storm? It's just been your fairly standard blow so far (for autumn)

Got up this morning expecting to see the puddles illuminated in the street lamps but very dry, windy yes, but no real gales. Lovely blue skies for most of the day to with the odd big gust of wind. Hardly seems like a storm at all here in Dunfermline.

Just some sharp showers today. Hardly a puff of wind in Glen Garry. Certainly nothing I would try to claim as storm like. Is there more to come?
