Hello Lassie. Of the 4 storms I saw in total only one passed almost overhead and that rattled through at a fair rate of knots. I set off in the car but couldn't keep up with it.

 

The largest of the storms was the last one and that was to my east, more towards Wembley, Harrow way I would think. Quite an afternoon.

Hi Bluebreezer! There were some large storms around yesterday, I was surrounded by them, never took a direct hit though! Got any good photos of yesterday's storms?

Rather chilly today thought I heard a rumble anyone near me heard anything ? Rain doing wonders for the new grass seed I put down off to chessington Next Wednesday any thoughts on the weather for then jp or anyone else with such knowledge ?

No storms around here at the moment but it is cold and rainy too! Not sure about next week though, the bank holiday is described as mixed!

Happy POETS day not great weather wise, we got a spectacular storm yesterday. CG lightning, one strike was really close. You could feel the tremble and then a bright flash which blinded me for a 3/4 of a second. Apart from that episode we have had nothing great.

Afternoon all

 

A bright morning has fizzled into a damp a dull afternoon here now, got wet on the walk back from town, well unless I decide to be lazy and nip out for fish and chips I have no real need to go out again today anyway.

 

 

My four day weekend has arrived

 

 

Couple of houses hit by lightening in Rushden apparently this afternoon with some damage. My wife said it was pretty continuous at home from 2pm-4.30pm with some decent sized hail thrown in. At work in Bedford it we only really had significant thunder and lightening between 3.15-4pm. Still freaked out the Norwegians in the meeting. Told them there was a lightening rod on the roof. Assume there is, given the amount of IT infrastructure (over 2000 cpu cores) in a 4 floor building.

Yes there was and yes it was, I was in Wellingborough all day and it started just after midday and then moved and stayed in the area till late afternoon.

Evening. Rather indifferent today really, one of those afternoon stratus fests as the convection was not great enough to get showers going and simply spreads out over the sky. It's much brighter now.

Hoping for some decent weekend weather down in Benfleet, but I suspect both storms and sunshine might be in short supply.

I kind of reached the same conclusion for Sunday rain wise, I am the far NW of the region and I am hoping to try and get a car boot in this Sunday, but the timing of the potential showers may scupper that idea yet.

 

Temps not looking that back, cooler than recent warm days but high teens by day is not a bad offering over the next few days.

same here, woke up to torrential and heavy rain just before 07:00 and it has remained wet since, still raining now with some heavy bursts, feeling a lot colder too, not been out yet but do need to pop to the library today so hoping for a lull in this rain soon.
