South East England & East Anglia Regional Weather Discussion 28/03/14

Stayed dry here too with a high of 14c and sunny spells.

Just booked in a stay in Brighton with two friends in September - going there to do the 5k Colour Run (every k you run they throw a different coloured powder at you so you come out the other end looking like a rainbow) so thought we'd make a weekend of it. Hoping (way) in advance that the weather will be nice

Hi CK, sorry not been ignoring you, just had to visit the mother-in-law in darkest Essex! I believe the cloud formation is called altocumulus, I'm sure SteveC will confirm if he gets a chance on his busy drinking/walking weekend.

More walking than drinking, thankfully. Yes, the clouds were either altocumulus or cirrocumulus. I could see them half an hour before sunrise and they should have been nicely lit later, but fog ruined the show when it mattered. Never mind, it happens. I was ready for if it, if it had occurred and I'd have been more annoyed to have slept through or ignored a potential event.

Evening. The sun came out eventually here, was cloudy but bright most of the day with lots of high level cloud. A tad chilly at times too.

Lots of dry weather coming up over the coming week with lots of sunshine as high pressure will be close by or over us for most of the time.

Where has all this cloud come from! The promising sunny start seems to be going, not as warm as I hoped it would be, still have started the garden tidy up anyway, amazing how much stuff blows in over a winter period, this is my first proper weekend out in the back garden too since last autumn.

 

Anyone watching BBC News 24 at the moment? program on about the winter storms we just had.

Brill day out there, been sorting out the front and back gardens, lawn looks less wild now and patio is a lot more tidy, still some wind blown rubbish in the front garden but that will have to wait a day until the large triffid (massive plant I have no idea what it is) has been tamed a bit so I can get round it.  Also need to get a saw and cut down the dead privit hedge plant thingomy (the last last winter killed it, gave it last year to grow back but nada).

 

Even ventured into spider central (hate it too) also known as the shed and had a tidy up in there.

Good evening - first post for a while

 

There have been some lovely Spring days in the last week with great visibility and sunshine, so a good time to get out and about with the camera and enjoy the fresh air in regions away from my home ground and in and around the North Downs.

 

Tatsfield, at 240 metres is one of the highest parts of the North Downs and Wednesday was a good sunny day to have a look around on route to other destinations. Here is the village green and little pond

 

 

Next, it was a visit to Downe - and just before getting to the village, it was a must to take some pics of Down House, the former home of the naturalist Charles Darwin. This beautiful house is under the guardianship of The English Heritage

 

 

 

Some female from Hastings was caught on camera loitering with(out) intent on paying the entrance fee to go into the house!

Friday saw a visit to Eynsford and then Shoreham Village - two well known very pretty spots

Thanks for those kind words Tams. It was really nice to be able to take you to some of our picturesque villages in NW Kent, we've been very lucky with the weather this week. Those photos have come out really well, so please dont sack the photographer just yet! 

Love the photo of you with Antony, must also add my appreciation to you, for all your help with him, in the last few days, especially the trip up to London and his hospital appointment. Just about to dish up the rest of that wonderful curry, from last night, superb again Lady T and considering you were put under so much pressure, time wise.
